I see nothing that shows any dedication...except....cutting the whidshield off of an S2000. That I guess is dedication of sorts. If you got the money to do that sort of thing, great. I wholeheartedly support it. I honestly don't care that he fucked up an S2000, I just think it looks stupid. And no matter how much drag coefficient he got out of it, it's still a dumb mod......as I said above, specially on those race days where that less drag coefficient slams the water straight into his face as mother nature dumps out on him in turn 4.

I'd also like to see the rear end of the car. I wouldn't be suprised if it was still registered and he drove it on the street every now and again. If anyone has any other photos showing more about this car, stick em up.
Thank you for answering your own question - lol.

No1 chops a s2k b/c they are only partly dedicated. That part of the equation is a no-brainer. I am not gonna waste time arguing opinions b/c every1 will simply not like this, as this thread shows. All I want people to see is that this is a PURPOSE BUILT car. What the other racers who ran this event with this driver will say/think at Waffle House after the races is VERY different than what "some street-racer" or "car show guru" will think.

It's no different than pro-v8 guys asking me why I strapped a snail to a 91 Civic Hatch. No matter how fast it is, they just "don't get it" and it doesn't make sense to them. To each his own

Every car that people posted up to bolster their arguement is a vintage car. They look good since the car is shorter as well. It fits. This car is a tall bodied car minus a windshield. He removed weight by removing the windshield....that's about the only saving grace that car has.

    As for the other comment.

It's pretty low, has very nice offset especially for a race (supposed) car and ...well no rusted hood. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. But it does fit the other half of IA's nutswingers. It's lowered, basically stock looking minus the hack job and has wheels on it. Clean lovers can attach lips to tailpipe at this time. It's no different than being in a bike in the rain, is it comfortable? Not particul

Personally, I am a huge fan of function on a vehicle. But in this case, it just isn't doing it for me. All he has managed to do is ruin an S200 if the windscreen is not attachable. If it is, big kudos to that guy. But if it's not, it's gonna be at best a weekend racer that he's gonna be regretting on rainy race days.
How do you know it wasn't a salvaged roll over car bought at an auction with a bent windshield frame and busted glass? I almost bought one that had not even had it's first oil change for $4k years ago. there was no damage to the rear quarters...only body panels on the front clip and one door with the top torn & bent up and windshield frame crushed. This car could have been duplicated for $8k with it after replacing the front panels, wheels, tires, chopping off the window frame, race seat, single roll hoop, and fabricating a tonneau cover. Find me a brand new 240hp 8,500/9k rpm 2,500 lb race car for $8-10k.

Is that how this car was built? I don't know, it's speculation. For all I know it could have been paid for in cash from the dealer and went straight to a shop to be modified for the track. Logic tells me it was built exactly how I could have done it 5 years ago.

Do you know how may 100's/1,000's of open cockpit cars race every weekend? lol! It's no different than a motorcycle in the rain. It's not NASCAR either, they can make turns in the rain. An experienced driver will pull nearly identical lap times in the rain as on dry asphalt anyways. That's what rain tires with a tread wear of like 30 are for lol! They feel like bubble gum when they are cold then get insanely sticky after heating up.

Lol first off. I don't care enough to delve into the way the car was built because.....I don't care.

I still think it looks like shit. No matter if it belches out virgins from the tailpipe when it races around Road Atlanta with 1 second lap times.

I HAVE raced. I HAVE gotten paid for driving and I was an instructor. I STILL think it looks like shit and if I was at Waffle House after race day i'd STILL say it looked like shit.

You feel like you have to defend this car when in reality you don't. You like it...GREAT!!!! I hate it....GREAT!!!! It's not your car so realize that everyone doesn't like what you like simply because it COULD be a great racing car. But....you honestly have NO CLUE how good a car it is because all you...and everyone else in this thread have seen is 2 photos.

So get me some number, lap times, weight, specs, the drivers name and his position in the points standing and THEN we can have a discussion on the performance of it. For all we know it could be some guy's first day on the course and he decided to chop his window off to be cool. It really looks like a mildy modded S2000 with no window. So who knows anything.

    Until then.....it looks like shit.

It's not the car i'm defending as much as the purpose of a functional track car. I'm willing to bet 9/10 people criticizing the car have never been to the track or involved with racing, modern or historic & vintage. I don't know any experienced drivers/crew members/fabricators/mechanics that don't appreciate something built for function. Sure it looks "different" but as I said earlier, you can't see what the car looks like from the drivers seat.

Touche. Paid by who and instructing for what organization or sanctioning body? Out of 2,246+ posts in 3 years you have 12 in the competition forum, 8 are comments on drift events, and none have anything to do with road racing, not even the slightest intuition. Someone of your stature should be able to offer a ton of insight and knowledge to the countless threads people have created and questions they have had...so please educate me.

I've run Solo events. I was a driving instructor for the United Stuntmans Association at the twice yearly stunt school where I instructed with an Ex Dukes of Hazzard driver. I started The Southeast Drift Association and ran it with others until it was passed to Marcos. I was a part of 5th Gear and ended up owning their old ITB car which I ran here and there. It's amazing to me that over my opinion on a forum about a car that isn't even yours, you went through my entire post history and broke down where and when I posted in what forum and now are trying to call me out on it. Obsess much?

Now, other than that. The only qualification I need at this point in time is my opinion which is....that car looks like shit. And since we have only seen 2 photos of it......nothing else. There is nothing else to go on except looks.

I don't choose to post in the competition forum because I don't compete now. Plus, if it's anything like every other sub-forum on IA, my opinion would either be ridiculed or dismissed.

Once again, ALL that car LOOKS like is an S2000 with no windshield and light mods. So when you can find me some numbers on it, or some lap times, or even a spec sheet.....ANYTHING except 2 photo's, I might believe that it's something more than a mildly modded S2000 with a lopped off windscreen.

I don't see ANYTHING other than that missing windscreen that yells out "Purpose Built Racecar". All I see is a guy who took a mildly modded S2000 off the road (possibly) and could be on the track for his first driving school. Nobody knows nothing at this point. Except me.... I know it looks like shit. Well, and you, who thinks it looks great. Excellent, we disagree on it......shocking.

It took all of 45 seconds to type your name in the search, specify the competition subforum, and see you have expressed zero knowledge of any race organization: from experience, classifications, rules, car setups, to instructing. With what little road race experience I have, I still remember nearly all of those that have expressed said knowledge.

Solo 1 or Solo 2 events? I respect and admire the stunt driving and would LOVE to do it myself, I know i'm more than capable...fearing absolutely nothing other than the safety of others and having done the impossible in the most ridiculous cars. I'd probably be better at it than on a road course, mainly because I like to take things a step further and more daring, not just remain consistent. Unfortunantly that is on a completely different level than racing. Following directors orders or teaching those how have nothing to do with the obedience and consistent precision required in racing. Racing isn't exactly trial and error. You don't get to do something over if you screw up. I'm not saying either is better than the other, they're just completely different: I doubt all race car drivers would make a good stunt man just like I doubt all stunt men could be a successful race car driver.

You came into a thread about a track car saying, "That guy should be ridiculed at every event he goes too. If I saw that on a trailer heading to the track, I would make it my personal mission to ride next to him pointing and laughing the entire way."

I've never heard anything that ignorant come from someone in racing. Find me a real driver that is worried about the looks of a car (or anyone else's), that's the job of the teams P.R., their marketing, or the owner...the driver isn't going to care how a track car looks as long as if functions safely and reliably. Who know's, it could be a car capable of dominating whatever class it's in and the driver sucks...doesn't really matter as long as he's having fun. That's the entire point of a low budget track car: to drive, have fun, and hopefully win. It's a purpose built car that has a visor instead of a windshield probably saving well over 100lbs, not to mention the reduced drag. The entire interior is probably stripped and gutted with nothing but a gauge cluster and seat. Removed the stock roll bars for a single hoop and put on a tonneau cover to reduce the drag even more.....but you don't care about the build of the car so it doesn't matter.

Lemme guess, what do you think about the LoCost's participating in drift events, unconventional? What if I brought out my Geo Tracker with the claim I can drift as good or better than those in stock'ish Corolla's (as long as it's wet lol!)?

So let me get this straight. You are now attempting to attack ME personally for my opinion of a car that isn't even yours? Are you high on some sort of drug or something?

You have never heard of something so ignorant? Since you have raced you ought to know. EVERY driver cares how their car looks. At least anything past parking lot racing or Friday nights at Lanier. Let me break it down to you. If your car is not looking right, you don't race. End of story. So in your opinion, a race car can just be function. So quite literally any race car could just go out there in mismatched body panels and compete? Rofl. There are RULES in racing so that that doesn't happen. Oh yea, and if your car doesn't LOOK right....you don't race. Body damage....you don't race. EVERY driver who knows what the hell they are doing GREATLY cares what their car looks like. Cause if they don't look right, they aren't racing. Sure it isn't HIS job to make the car look right, but he DAMM sure cares.

So in your rational, any of the Mega Dope Driftcars on this site who have rusty hoods, dope offset and incredible drop are race cars as long as they are on the track. I mean let's look at it. They are usually gutted to save weight, have coilvers, light wheels and roll cages. Everything that that car has with a windshield to boot. But yet I don't see you jumping up and attacking people to defend them. What gives?

As for the rest of it. Never once did I say Stunt Driving was like racing.....you did. I only said I had raced and I had gotten paid for driving. See, what you are doing is called an Ad Hominem attack. Instead of focusing on the arguement, you are trying to focus on me in an attempt to make your arguement have more weight. What My past is, or what I've done in it has nothing to do with you taking a look at 2 photographs on a web forum and then attacking me over the fact that I think that car looks like shit.

Also. Nobody has proven that that car is a total track car. Once again since you can't seem to graps it. It's a car on a track....NOT necessarily a Track Car. I still see that nobody has come up with any info on this car other than 2 photos. It has a Cockpit Uwara stick on the side, Japanese S2K tuner by the looks of their website. Nothing on there about this car. It also has a stick on number....not a permenant one so that also leads me to believe that this might be a street car that is registered and not a complete, track only car like you want to believe. Who knows who would want to drive that on the street....but stranger things have happened. Also, I don't think I ever ONCE made fun of the performance of the car. Only that I thought it looks like shit. Then you blew up to Defcon One in some patriotic attempt to defend the car like it was God and you were a Southern Baptist.

You are trying to make me look like less to make your arguement look like more. That's pretty sad. There is no need to go into this like a 12 year old. "I think that car looks bad"...."OH YEA!!!! Well I think you are a big loser". That's pretty much what you have done here. What I have done in the past has no relevance on how that car looks like shit. What an adult would have done is simply say. "Oh well....I like it. To each his own" Sort of like what Baby J did. Kudos to Baby J....shame on you.

Yeap. Solo II. Does that make me any less qualified in your eyes to judge a cars looks? Or any less qualified to make any judgements on racing? Ran events in Atlanta region SCCA and Bucaneer regions SCCA. Ran an ITB prepped Accord some 18 years ago.

And there's really no need to reply back. Nothing you say is gonna make me not think that car looks like shit. So you are kind of spinning your wheels with the rest of the arguement.

That is a track car. No other use for it than that. It is fully modified for one reason....racing. The other car is basically a street car with the windshield hacked off. Pull the taped on number off, drive it to the V meet and it would be laughed at.

Dollars to Donuts it's street driven. It's most likely in Japan unless someone has flipped the image. It's basically a street car, hardly any outward looking race modifications on it. Stock bodywork, full headlights. Side rear view mirrors, drivers AND passenger. The cars in the photo with him are similiar, minus the windshield mod from what I can see. Seems to me, my best guess would be street car class of a track day. I'm sure it can perform, that was never in question.

Oh yea. And I still think it looks like shit. .

That's E Production FYI, prepared is an autocross class.

I want to add more. This S2K doesn't even look like a race car. That roll bar looks like shit, it really looks like a stock S2K with no windshield. Find me specs on it racing and I will accept it. I still think it's ugly as fuck. I know all about race cars with no windscreens and all, that doesn't matter, just because you are into racing doesn't mean every race car looks good. That thing doesn't even look like it performs.

Speedminded, why hating on Glides? He is a cool guy, and knows his shit, I trust his knowledge over many others on this site. If he was a Solo 2 or Solo 1 instructor what's the difference? Solo 2 is harder anyway. I'd be in the passenger seat with him pointing and laughing at this ugly ass POS S2K down the road too.

Thanks Simon. I didn't instruct in Solo events, just raced in em.

As for the car, that's what i've been trying to say all along. Mildly modded (exterior wise) S2k with a hacked off windscreen.

A real purpose built car, with more then just a chopped windscreen.

Plus it's just an autocross car that's common lol.
