If i remember correctly, the 1928-1941 era of European and American classic luxery cars are considered the greatest cars ever made. That was an era in which the luxury cars were made with no thought on price.

Horch was part of the Audi+Wanderer+DKW to form Auto Union. VW wanted to bring the Horch name back as this car and other Horch models were competition to the likes of the 500K Mercedes. But, then you would have two premier luxery brands in Bentley and Horch. Bentley is also much more known than Horch. They would have the issue Mercedes had when they reintroduced Maybach.

I must admit, im not up to par with my in depth car history prior to the 60's.

So what happened to Wanderer and DKW? ive never heard these names.

And it seems like Maybach is doing pretty well, why would VW think they couldn't do the same?
Seems like VW has quite a monopoly on germany these days!
    VW,Porsche,BMW,Audi,Bentley (from the UK, true)

    am i missing anything?

DKW had great success in motorbikes before WWII and in cars in the early 50's with the F93. It then dissolved in the 1960's and Wanderer didn't make it past WWII. Maybach actually isn't doing that well compared to Rolls Royce. The 57 and 62 are nowhere near their initial yearly sales goals.

    BMW isn't part of VW.

    VW owns

Audi -> Lamborghini, Skoda, Seat, Bentley, Bugatti, and Scania.

Porsche is still sitting on the fence.

I must say, you astonish me with how much history you know.

Side note: Am I the only one who finds it funny that at 4am on any given night, there are still people swarming the pics section on IA. But at 9:30am, no one is awake.

Well, im off to my first day at GSU!

Winning that just upped the asking price you could get for it by about a million or more.

    Thats being conservative.

    Beautiful car though.

This is true. Pebble Beach is the highest show a car could win.

Oh, and for those that don't understand, please don't associate Pebble Beach to some local car show. These cars are judged by the best in the world to how original they are. It takes ten-fifteen years sometimes to get a car eligible and a car cant be back for ten years after its been invited.

Im glad the Pebble Beach tour was introduced years back to prove these cars are road worthy.
