    Default lulz

So the previous owner of the now junkyard starion said he put a hole in the block or something but wasn't sure. I pulled the engine. Lulz has ensued.

Yep. What you see there is less than half of a piston. Rod was nowhere to be found

What I meant is I wonder if wiring issues had part in this hole?

Oh, nope. See, the guy who sold the car told the new owner to check the oil level constantly as the engine would leak it.

The bearing surface on the crank is fucking melted. That means low oil + boosting = shaboom. Might explain when the rod was nowhere to be found.

Nice. I've never blown an engine, no matter how much boost i've run. Then again, they've all been ticking time bombs because of such.

The engine was also suspected of having a rod knock - basically overall a few bad factors culminated to what amounts to awesomeness. I'm cleaning up and polishing the remainder of that piston, and putting it in a display case me thinks.

It would be better if you had a stock piston right next to it for non-car people to compare.

good idea. I mean part of the freaking wrist pin is embedded into the piston too .

You got it wrong. There's only 1/4 piston left - and no, I bought it for the top end aftermarket head ( $300-400 ) + an aftermarket cam. Head seems to have survived, will know for sure this weekend.

oh wow. I tried turning the crank before i talked to you but didn't have the tools on me. The turbo is still good right? Looking around they seem to only be a couple hundred new though. Hope the head is good unless the piston was launched into the valves! Nothing that can't be fixed anyways! Are you getting reimbursed? Don't say were you got it.

Yeah, the turbo is good. A little shaft play, but not bad at all. Exhaust manifold is cracked. Intake side, outside of the bent throttle attachment they damanged, it's peachy king. The injectors themselves are worth $100 each Not to mention the TPS, ISC, and such. That throttle body right there, if parted out and sold, I'd make back what I bought the engine for
