Default Proof that there are 240 owners that don't drift...

    No really, they do exist!

I picked this car up in June 2007 when I was stationed in North Dakota, bone stock 91 5 speed SE (all the power options and good stuff) for $1500. It was my 5th S-chassis. 3 other S13 fastbacks, and an '84 S12 200SX turbo.

Did my 5 lug swap, and installed my HKS coilovers:

Wheels are Enkei 92 Mesh, 16x7, +20 offset.

Then I had a tire blow out, so I decided to put on the wheels I had been sitting on since July 2005...

Nismo LMGT-2's, 17x8/9, +35 offset. Tires are 235/40/17 front, 255/40/17 rear. Much different than the stretched tires you see on most 240's. I enjoy keeping traction.

More suspension stuff...Cusco strut tower bars with rear triangulation kit:

To be blunt, I get a hard-on for CA18's. I can appreciate a well-rounded SR20/KA-T, but lets be real. Most of the ones you see are thrown together with wiring everywhere if they were done by the owner. I'm not gonna preach on and on about the CA, just know and understand that I will never EVER have an SR20 under my hood.

    So, here's Victim #1.

And I decided to install my Silvia front end, which had been gathering dust since 2005.

    Kyle (d16_turbo) shooting some color...

After driving a VERY conservative 500 miles of clutch break in, I finally did a full throttle pull into 4th, and at this time, a dry-rotted coolant hose that I neglected to change since it *APPEARED* fine had decided to shit itself, and I dumped all my coolant in a matter of seconds. Blew up the headgasket, and warped the block to where it needed a line-bore. Lesson learned about replacing EVERYTHING rubber before installing a motor.

    Rebuilt, and ready to go.

I did a stock rebuild, and reused all my hard parts (pistons, rods) and added some ARP head studs in the mix. I left the head alone, aside from removing the butterfly valves from the intake manifold. They are similar to the ones you find in the GS-R and H22 manifolds. 500 mile motor break in, and around 550 miles, I was putting along at maybe 30 mph when I had a valve guide in the #3 cyl intake side crack and drop down into the cylinder. Killed it. Entirely random, which made it REALLY frustrating to do it over again since there was ZERO error on my part.

About 2 months goes by (Approx. May 2008), and I came across another CA18 from a personal friend and reputable company. Picked it up on a Friday around 8PM and got home around 11, and my car was back on the road Sunday night around 7PM.

Installed my seat, left the stock belts in place since I don't have a harness bar, but the Takata's look good on the seat.

The following Friday, I took it to the drag strip, and then the auto-x on Sunday. It felt good to drive the car again, needless to say.

New front brakes...Stillen/AP Racing big brake kit. 13" rotors, and I've also got a set of 2 piece rotors. Those will stay on the shelf unless it's a track day.

Fabricated my gauge pod and CD player trim from an old CF hood. The center will hold the Wideband once I purchase it. I also installed my JDM Digital Climate Control unit.

And just a few more recent pics while I've been working on replacing all the suspension bushings, as well as installing my J30 rear end.

    Carbon hatch:

    Carbon hood arrived:

Pain-in-the-dick-hoodpin install...I'll be doing a walkthrough on it if anyone is interested.

Hahaha, a LOT of it with that first motor. It's getting ONE last chance before I take it to the scrap yard, unless the machine shop deems that the crank isn't reusable.

Yeah, oddly enough, I submitted it in and about 2 weeks later, my hood flew back and shattered my sunroof, and put some dents in my roof. I think it was the next month's issue that the car was in there.

I appreciate it! This current motor has been an absolute BLAST to drive. It's got RB26 444cc injectors and the boost is currently set at 11psi.

As far as paint goes...my paint skills are lacking. I painted aircraft when I was in the service, but that's a whole different ballgame than automotive.

Great thread Peter. Your early in the morning stuff is great. Tell everyone what you think of a good set of RAS.

And I want to let you in on something that I could never post on 240Atl: the sway bar set I bought was designed for and is used by people who road race/autox, NOT drift. Shhh! Another secret: one of the Tanabe's bit the dust sometime between Monday and Tuesday.

To me, your car looked the nicest when you first got it. The work you did (engine) was pretty cool. But I dont care for all that other stuff you did to it other than the brakes.
