Default 3-(13-15)-09 Spring Break Nationals - Daytona Beach, FL *Some NWS + 56k Go Die!!!*

FUNKMASTER FLEX CUSTOM CAR & BIKE SHOW TOUR JOINS SBN

With the news of the 23rd annual Spring Break Nationals shifting dates to the hottest weekend of Spring Break, renown HOT 97 New York DJ and host of ESPN’s Car Wars, Funkmaster Flex will combine his 2009 Custom Car and Bike Show Tour with SBN, the World’s Most Famous Soundoff, this coming March 14th and 15th. With an additional 100,000 square feet to house the mega event, the newly expanded Ocean Center is the place located in the heart of Daytona Beach’s Spring Break activity.

“We’re absolutely thrilled on many levels” said SBN Founder Paul Papadeas, “we’ve waited years for the Ocean Center expansion and now, it’s a reality. Additionally, we’ve been able to secure the center for the peak weekend of Spring Break making this the event to be at. Automotive aftermarket accessories suppliers are being courted now that we have space to house them. Hotels are already booking in record numbers and with fuel costs declining as they are, we expect a huge turnout”. “For the past couple of years, I have coordinated Flex’s car show here in Daytona and it’s always jam packed”, says Papadeas, “Flex is a celebrity with a great following and his Road Show is PRO all the way. Flex is well connected and most influential among the music and custom car genre, so may expect a few awesome surprises at SBN this year”.

With that being said, this was quite the event! Follow along as we document the weekend for all to see. Thanks to Tom for letting me borrow his gear to shoot with. It was really cool getting to use a nice camera for once!

This just so happened to be the first appearance for Bing and myself showing with the International All Stars. These guys are a class act. Everything is on point with them and they are on top for a reason. It feels really good to be a part of such a well lubricated marketing team! Everyone is cool and down to Earth as well as professional with the way that they carry themselves.

As far as I know this is the outcome that I remembered:

John - World Champion (Sound Quality)
Tom - 1st Street Truck Custom
Pete - 1st Rookie Asian Custom
Nico - 2nd Street Domestic Custom
Bing - 5th Street Asian Custom

So all in all it was a very successful trip this weekend without any negative events on the way down or home. We all got there in one piece and got home with a lot of hardware. We represented our team and sponsors very well!

I want to personally thank everyone who was involved in this weekend's events. The organization as far as for roll in and for the nightly events was flawless. I know a lot of work went into planning this trip and I want to say that it showed. It was really good to finally meet and hang out with the crew on the large scale. I was definitely not disappointed. The crew seems to be a very tight knit one and it shows. There was definitely lots of trust in the team (everyone taking care of everyone else’s cars and entrusting them to drive them from point a to point b for them) and I am glad to be on board and be a part of the International All Stars name.

Congratulations again to the whole team for the successful showing at the Spring Break Nationals. Can't wait to get out and show again. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

    Day 1

The International All Stars hit this event up in full force. It began with a very early morning start on Friday the 13th of all days. Tom, Bing, and I left Atlanta at about 5:30 AM from the Downtown Atlanta Varsity.

We then stopped a few hundred miles south of Atlanta for Tom’s Starbuck’s fix. It was the last Starbuck’s for the next 300 miles or so haha that meant we HAD to stop. It was also drizzling a little bit so it was a good opportunity for Tom to install a wiper blade.

Much to our surprise we also had an unexpected tag along. John, who had supposedly left the day before to get to Daytona had decided to leave the same time we did. We slowed down for a bit till he could catch up and we soon had a caravan rollin down the highway.

We hit up a few gas stations for obvious reasons.

The last stop at a gas station before rolling in.

    Back on the road again.

Got to the show and set up our cars. You will see the cleaned up rides in day three of this post.

We finished up and headed back to the hotel and grabbed some dinner. Everyone was pretty tired the first night due to the drive so we all hit the sack pretty early.

    Day 2

Saturday was pretty much sit around and wait to get judged day so we didn’t get a chance to go around and take many pictures. However the bikini contest was right in front of us and we made great use of Tom’s truck and used the truck bed as an elevated tripod.

Funk Master Flex getting involved with the judging.

We also got to see some artists in action.

After a very long day at the show it was time to go get some stress relief! What a better way than renting out a go kart track at 11 PM?

    Where are you going Bing?

Alex is one very sneaky driver!

    What you looking back for?

    Uh Oh!

Something is not right about this picture. Aren’t they supposed to be going the same way?

10 kart pile up on turn 3!

    Haha Nico!

    Another wrong way driver.

Everyone had stories to tell after the races!

    Look Ma! No hands!

    The good old pit maneuver.

So, after a good night’s rest it was time to start Day 3!

Our sweet set up in front of the stage.

    Silly Pete.

Way to get some coverage J. Paolo!

A quick walk around the show.

Some shots from the audio arena.

    Another rap group.

    Day 3 bikini contest.

A few of the booth models.

    The room of boom!

    Back to the show.

Bing knocked out and dead asleep in his car lol.

    The awards ceremony!

Pete got 1st Place Rookie Asian Custom!

Nico got 2nd Place Street Domestic Custom!

Tom got 1st Place Street Truck Custom!

Bing got 5th Place Street Asian Custom!

John Marsh also placed “World Champion” in the Sound Quality competition! Big props to John! That is like winning the Super Bowl of the Sound Quality games!

    Team pose!

    The pose for Bill!

That night we got back to the hotel to roll back to Atlanta. We had a great treat as the shutle launch was only a few miles down the coastline so we had front row seats. Here are some pics of that from Tom's camera.

    Hope you all enjoyed!

Hey, I'm not knocking it at all, lolol. It definitely looks better without the kit, though.

no longer, i actually left the scene for a little while and was picked up by the allstars early this year. better fit for me at this time in my life. i have different priorities now and being with the allstars and their less demanding schedule works out better for me. off to bigger and better things!
