Why is everyone saying it's the girls fault, and they'd hit her? The OP said the guy was driving fast (and probably aggressively accelerating) so when the woman looked before she went, he might have been far back, and so early in his acceleration it appeared that if he maintained that constant speed she would've made it with plenty of time (although before pulling out one should take a little time to observe the oncoming car's speed and acceleration rather than glance quickly for distance and assumed speed). To me, her pulling out may have been at a bad time, but speeding around public streets is bad at ANY time, and he probably could have avoided the accident if he was driving normally. It sucks yes, but I'm not 100% sorry for him, cause he probably could have avoided it by not showing off.
