Hood spacing: summer time yes, winter time no.
...or get a Hondata intake manifold gasket and you'll have better gains lowering the intake temps than hood spacing can ever do. Plus wrap the header/exhaust manifold.
Great looking car except that hood..
Its broken, or not aligned or something.. Did you crash the car?
(I know I know, spacers.. But thats rice, I mean, how does it not bother you?!?!?! Why would anyone do this?1?!?!)
Car looks hella good JonathanThese wheels look a LOOOOOOOOOT better

FUCK GRAN TURISMO EAST!! NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR THERE, ESPECIALLY NOT FOR AN ALIGNMENT!! TERRIBLE BUSINESS!!![]()
your hood isn't closed? lame car.
hood looks retarted but you have a VERY clean civic!! love it.
well i think this just means that technically the MATERIALS are jdm, but since you made them into hood spacers in AMERICA, its not jdm.Originally Posted by se7en

Summertime would actually be a better time to not cowl the hood as raising it up does not allow hot air to be evacuated from the engine bay as it was designed to be done (underneath the car). The windshield cowl (where your wipers are at) is a high pressure area - by raising the hood, you create a vortex here when at speed, which acts as a wall - keeping higher temps under the hood.
i like the look, which is why it's been done.

the only spacers you need on this car is wheel spacers.
your spacing is all in the wrong part of the car.
the wheel fitment it horrible
not hating just something to look into.
i was actually gonna say the same thing earlier. i was thinking about doing it with my miata because those thigns are BAD about heat soaking and having insane underhood temps, but after doing my research i found that it would actually make things worse.Originally Posted by se7en

correct sirOriginally Posted by Thighs
the best way to combat high under-hood temps is to remove any noise dampening material that's there and install a low temp thermostat and fan switch, as well as wrapping the exhaust manifold.

the wheels are +40, which is just about perfect for this chassis on a 7" wide wheel. The issue I'm thinking you're seeing is negative camber - which is hard to correct all the way when the tires are inside the fenders.Originally Posted by Nick Jeezy

i guess im used to looking at 240 wheel fitment.
the wheels look good on the car tho.
your car looks great.
Very nice but I vote for a 99+ front end conversion.....

Who cares when the car is moving, that's what the radiator is for. It's when the car is sitting in traffic running on a hot day. Heat rises. More heat will escape if the hood is raised.Originally Posted by se7en

waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better!![]()

so if i change my words and say it's to prevent heat soak, then it's okay?Originally Posted by speedminded

Haha I didn't even realize the hood was spaced, mine opens up from the back, so I just thought your hood was popped. Then when everyone pointed it out I was like "oh yeah, most cars DO have hoods that open up from the front!"
^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle
