Default 61 belair progress/build thread (lots of pics)

this is a bunch of pics from start to most recent of the build of my 61 belair.

Car is being built at fuller hotrods downtown atlanta and has been featured 3 times on 2 guys garage. it started off as a 61 belair with a 400 c.i motor, cut springs and a flat black paint job.

the end result of the car will be a belair with a fully boxed morrison chassis, 572 c.i fuel injected gm motor, beefed up 4l85e trans, Qa1 adjustable coilovers, 4 link rear end, real rodder wheels, flat black paint job with all molding removed, and an interior designed and provided by oakley (yes oakley sun glasses). Oakley is debuting their new racing firesuit material soon and they wanted to use their material in the interior of my car :boobies: . sooo on with the pics

when i first got the car...

next to dads nova in the garage

after it sitting at the house for about a month we decided to do the complete build at the shop that i was working at in atlanta called fuller hot rods. we began by completely taking the car apart and putting on the rotisery

then the new complete rolling chassis came

chassis comes with wholes to route the exhaust thru the frame

572 c.i gm crate motor arrived

we all gave the delivery guy a big hug lol

    front sway bar

began putting motor on chassis and bryan fuller custom made the whole exhaust system out of stainless steel

this is a motor mount made to route the steering shaft thru the mount

a pic with the exhaust mock up

shipping chassis to florida for the filming of two guys garage on speed channel

and around this time is when i injured myself and could no longer work at the shop

two days after i broke my arms me and my dad and the guys from yearone went on teh power tower driving the most bad ass cars across the country and we had kenny wayne sheperd and aj from overhauling drive their cars with our caravan
now time for the fixed up body back on the new frame

new HUGE fuel cell custom made

rear seat support custom made from one sheet of steel

    more

    puttin dash back in

    intergratted roll cage

    it should stop

custom build fan shroud made out of aluminum (this peice took over 10 hours)

and this is pretty much the most recent at the world of wheels car show

and ill throw in some pics of the nova and hatch for shits and giggles cause i never show off my goodies on here

ok i am tired of posting this crap....enjoy hope u all like it and it will be updated alot hopefully. car should be completely done by june

just posted more. and by the way i cant take any credit really for the bel air. all i did was strip the car and put together simple parts i was just an intern at the shop didnt do too much fab work. and also all these parts for the car were free and if not free very very very cheap because of sponsors

the 572 should put out about 700 hp, so ya that will be fun.

but i also know some people at turbonetics that tried to sponsor the nova and make a twin turbo kit for his car, and after a year i might try to get with them for some boost on the bel air... or i might try and get with pro charger and see if i can get a good deal from them

arms are as good as they are gonna get... which is not very good, my right wrist has had 8 breaks and the last break on my left wrist really messed it up. i will eventually need surgery to correct everything.

the worst part is after about 30 min of turning wrenches the pain is pretty bad, but i will live on

Love the Nova! After seeing that, I'd love to see what the finished project with the bel-air is gonna look like! Nice swap on the eg hatch, too! Is that the C1 with a red valve cover, or is that the C5?

some little updates of the interior.

all these pieces were hand made out of aluminum. and note the fabricator building this car has built a riddler car and worked with chip foose for many years.
