    Ehh I wouldn't get a D40. Everyone I have talked to who is really into photography says they are garbage:
    1)Have to use the menus to change settings
    2)Limited to af-s lenses for auto-focus
    3)Lack of depth of field preview
    4)Doesn't have automagic exposure bracketing
    5)Doesn't have built-in control for Nikon wireless flashes

    I was originally going to buy the D40, but after talking to people I bought a D70 instead.

    Im not sure exactly how serious I plan to get w/photo's but I do know the D40 will make me happy enough[for now].I can always buy a better camera if I decided to and just keep the D40 as a secondary one.
    I do appreciate your side of it and what you have heard.Thanks for helping out.
