Those that were stretching themselves to get a Z because they wanted that type of car will probably feel comfortable with the Gen Coupe. Add to that Hyundai finances EVVV REEE WUNNNNN and it makes it a strong competitor. Z lovers will still be Z lovers (even if the 370 looks like poo-poo kaka right now, it'll grow on us), but Z buyers who bought the Z simply becuase they wanted an affordable RWD sporty coupe may sway to the less expensive model. Especially given the economy. And all those who'd swing contently on the Z's nutz but can't afford one (i.e. most of those in hs and early college) will probably jump to the Hyundai camp. IMO, Hyundai is going to take a big chunk of the market up with this.
How many people have been wanting a RWD sports coupe for a while now. I kick myself for selling my 03 Z, but I needed a back seat. I'm WAITING to get a G35 (read: can't afford). If I wasn't already dead set on an 05 G35, I would get that coupe as a third car. Has everything I want in both the V6 and 4cyl turbo applications. And being a 3rd car (like the G will be), I don't have to keep all the unneccessary weight and safety stuff that my main cars need for family and can track it like i want and modify like want. It's really a perfect setup. And I think they start in the teens. Realistically, I could probably get a new Hyundai with a few options for the price of a used G35 w/ 50k or so miles. Financially, it makes better sense....
WHOA!!! i ALMOST talked myself into buying one. I gotta slow down. but, you get my (long, drawn out over-typed) point.
