You could try using one color like just black. Or use evenly spaced zip ties. It still wouldn't look good, but it would look a lot better.

Thanks! Still not done with the paint, when the weather warms up in spring I will wet sand and do another coat or two, this is just one coat and nothing else. But I like it as is, especially over how it was.
