yo why are all those 50s era cars lifted up like that?
The were the Gassers. Solid front ends pushed the rear wheels into the ground. These would later evolve into the altered wheelbase 60's cars and then finally the modern stretched rail based dragster.Originally Posted by Captain-Obvious

Some very beautiful cars right there.... That Orange Nove is PuRe SeX beisdes the wheels.... More of a classic street/strip look with older cars like that, not fancy rims as shown.

No problem. I think these are my favorite era of drag racing. That and the Slingshot dragsters.Originally Posted by Captain-Obvious

I remember your post with that car as well. It looks like a full on race car in street clothes.Originally Posted by Revmaynard

Im struggling to figure which one i like best.
Good candidate is this Holman Moody Fairlane. It's a modern version of the single original that was lost through time.
Holman plans to create 4 since that is how many the FIA has allowed. The white one in the op was the 2nd car made and this silver one was the first. The silver one was sold to a German and the car now lives in Europe racing GT40s and Cobras at historic gatherings.
I feel this is why the 60's-70's Nascars were so great. They could do anything and could actually be called "stock cars". The whole point of Holman Moody building this car back in 1964 was for Ford to see a unibody Nascar compared to the body on frame designs from the 50's. (Genesis)
A Ford Nascar going around Spa Francorchamps.......Just Awesome
This is the lone original from 64 that Fireball Roberts raced and tested. It no longer exists but if it was to be ever found, id be worth close to a million dollars.

The website also has bigger sizes and higher resolutions. I picked these to load quicker.Originally Posted by Evil Goat

Scariest goddamn thing I've ever ridden in.
Nice post as always. I'm especially digging the Goodyears on the Steve McQueen baja racer and what looks like the Pikes Peak rally.
Some how I missed this thread. EJ, best thread ever. I love the straight axle cars.
FTW.
Some of the best pics I have ever seen on IA... GOOD SHIT MAN!
