MY NA Rx-7 is faster than my TII was. Then again the TII was stock and this is highly modded but I';ll give you a little ride at the Rx-7 meet. I'm not claiming it's super duper quick, but it's a decent for an N/A stock port 13B probably nearing as quick as N/A gets without porting. MY car is a bit of a sleeper. Once again, nothing too special, but it ALWAY surprises people who ride in it for the first time. Think a high powered hard top Miata with a more reliable engine :p.

^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

Haha no, it was just something a guy at the autocross said to me. HE was like "I love my first gen, it's a hardtop Miata with a more reliable engine." I replied "I've never heard anyone call a rotary more reliable than anyhting without hearing the word 'DSM' next." Then he pointed out that these first gens really never break down. 1st gen 12As and 13Bs have 3mm apex seals. Thus the redline @ 7K instead of 8K like the FC 13Bs, but they last until 250K miles, but no, the Miata engine isn't unreliable.
