The only thing new the RENESIS really introduced over the other 13Bs is different compression and side exhaust ports. And since the R20B has different compression numbers, for the ethanol, all it really got from the RENESIS was it's exhaust port location. Once again. it;s still very 13/20B based.Originally Posted by JITB

i get waht your saying, BUT.. if it has what makes it a renesis than wouldnt it still be a renesis? its like a Gsr with a type R head.. its still a Gsr...right?Originally Posted by 87 Turbo II
no, the word RENESIS is a block and the name was added to show the redesign. The porting is just one of a few of the Renesis attributes. Change any little thing on the block, and it's a different redesign stage, a post renesis improvement. You could call it the RENESIS II if you wanted, because it bases improvements from the RENESIS redesign and carries them further, but it continues where the RENESIS left off and has a few changes, differen rotors entirely, harder stationary gears, probably different seals, being 20B shows us that they both are based off the 13B design, but you don't call a RENESIS a 13B even though it says 13B stamped on the housings(which it does) so you don't call the R20B a RENESIS, oyu call it the R20B, as it is THE engines name, the word RENESIS is a name, not an engine type. It's no different than RB26DET only RENESIS sounds nicer cause it happens to pronounce soemthing. If you want to call it the RENESIS though, you still can, it's just implying that the Rx-8 block is in there, as it is in the Rx-8.Originally Posted by JITB
