People do it all the time. It's a consequence you know and just have to deal with. Nissan is probably using this tactic to protect themselves and say "Hey, you mod this car and we're not going to fix it when something goes wrong".
Hell, I've been there. I came an inch from a battle with BMW over the moss-Magnuson act on modding a car I had a few years ago that ended up with some serious issues. Luckily, they backed down. Now, if they had put something in the buyers contract about not modding the car, I would have been in a not so happy spot.
