i bet that thing handles GREAT 1 inch off the ground, huh? now i dont know the driver of the truck personally, but have seen him drive before and i know he isnt a BAD driver. saying that a truck doesnt belong on a mountain makes you look stupid. you think your slammed honda does? yeah definitely not. just like dodge desinged that truck to be a workhorse, honda designed civics to be economy cars and to be cheap, reliable, and fuel efficient. so before you go bash someone else's ride because its not JUST LIKE YOURS, you should just remember that just because lots of people have riced out econoboxes doesnt mean everybody else should too.

Rich, some generation civics with proper mods can easily hang with an elise. they were not a sports car from the factory but can definitely be sporty and hold their own when setup properly. ive been in ALOT of "sports" cars that my 17 yr old honda can easily outperform. most civics are stereotypically junk and non functional but theres also alot out there that are very fast. so dont be so quick to dismiss all civics.

Not dismissing all the cars. I know they can be made to handle. My points were the following:

1. Civics are not sportcars (as eluded to in a few posts)
2. A stock civic vs. any sportscar is a no-brainer
3. A truck will not outperform a sportscar (even with mods) provided the same "pro" driver in both.
4. Most of the rest has just been BS to piss off some honda drivers...

Yep it was a quick little car. I was in a stock ranger and saw you blasting down the mtn one day as I was headed towards town. I caught up to you for about 1.5 seconds until i got a **** ton of brake fade and couldnt slow down anymore.. you were laughing in your mirror and gave me a big thumbs up and i backed out of it. I was hoping to run into you again on the mtn one day either on a mtn run on here or somewhere else. I met up with you guys at vogel one day when you were in your silver car at one of the barbeque meets. I was in a white eg hatch with some black slips on it (orig. right? haha). We talked for a bit and barker (speedminded) mentioned that me and you should go for a run. I had just gotten there to get food and you were hoping in the car to leave. anywho... There are a couple of people in this thread who live up on the mtn who are great drivers. I think it would be fun to get a group of seasoned drivers together to do a run. I dont have anything to play in right now but hopefully after the first of the year that will change.

obviously u have never seen slow_hatch drive on the track or in the mountains, not trying to ride slow-hatch's diick but i have riden behind hi in the mountains and the man has skills. he also has something u dont, that is experience. slow_hatch lives up there and i dont me he goes up there on a regular basis either. he actually lives up there in a house, so he already has the advatage over u in knowing the roads and his limits. and im pretty sure his limits exceed ur's. but there is truly only one way to find out.

As for the truck, as long as it's not raining or the tire isn't heated so much that oil comes to it's surface than it being bald doesn't really affect it, the grooves and tread are only for wet weather traction.

Guessing the accident was a result of either:
a) lifted in a turn after the rear end got light
b) Understeer due to improper use of braking and throttle

...either of which could happen in any car. Trucks have been successfully road racing for years. **** happens. If it was a Civic then people would say FWD's shouldn't be in the mountains right?

With that said, I know a few non-stock Civics/Del Sols that would tear up Elise's on the track...of course they have practically the same amount invested as if you were to purchase an Elise but that's just small details

'92-95 hatch or Del Sol with $3k or so invested into suspension and about $4k into an ITR engine/transmission will get you a REALLY quick and great handling car...for under $10k.

street tires lose traction, breakaway characteristics become unpredictable, braking distances are longer, etc when the tread is bald. Its not like it becomes a racing slick once its bald. Cmon im talking to speedminded, i know you know this stuff mang-lol

Wow....I just wasted like 7 mins reading this whole thread.....have to say....got me quite a few laughs out of it. You boys fight like you are 5! lol

ANYWAYS....glad you are okay dude....I flipped 4 times in a truck last year.....unbuckled( b/c i was in the back and we were in a pasture...lil did I know they were going to try and top out and cut a donut) and unconscious......was not fun. Still have scars from all the glass. Suprised I didnt get killed. Woke up halfway out the window with the truck on its side. One more roll and i would have probably been killed.
Guess it just wasnt my time right? lol

Truck looked like it had potential.....dont know much about em....have seen some blow some cars away though. Props and condolences for the truck! haha
