Wouldnt that be the new BMW 1 series engine with the boost just cranked up so it can produce 500hp?

Life begins at 6000 RPMS.. You will notice an audible change in engine noise, large increase in acceleration and any female passengers will immidiately start to remove their clothing.

the engine that you speak of is also in the 3 series, but no, that is an inline 6 twin turbo.

No. It is supposed to be a new motor that is going in one of the BMW SUV's. It is rumored to be a 4.8L V8, which will then be TT'ed.
