I don't think it looks all that bad. I'd bet if the first 3 or 4 comments weren't negative, a few more people would've posted something somewhat positive, but they had to see what the crowd thinks before they formed an opinion. I mean, maybe the door is a bit much, but I think the car looks somewhat good. I've been liking Mazda concepts lately, it really brakes the mold for the overseen common automobile. All econo boxes look alike, and all the next gen sports car look alike, and all the 90s sports care had a liiiiitle bit of identity, but the thread about 80s sports cars really shows how overused one design was. I think the 50s and 90s were the only 2 decades where you could tell cars apart right away. Every other time you had to get people who'd seem them a few times go "no, it's a so-and-so because of the headlight housing shape, or number of grill slits, or c-pillar kink" etc.
