    Default JDM Corvette

    http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/02/g...ted-for-japan/

In celebration of GM's 100th Anniversary, GM Asia-Pacific has unveiled the Corvette S-Limited, a 30-car special for the Japanese market. priced at ¥7,980,000. The allotment is split evenly by color -- 15 in Arctic White and 15 in Black. All the cars get the full leather-wrapped interior package; a rear spoiler, mesh grillework , and screened inserts for the side coves and the plate between the exhaust outlets. 'Vettes in Japan are probably scarce enough that they still draw plenty of attention. Hey, in the land where the best-selling car's engine displaces 660cc's, a thundering, 430-horsepower American pushrod that displaces 6.2 liters is always gonna make people look. Appropriately, the Corvette S-Limited officially goes on sale on the Fourth of July.

    My thoughts:
Japan gets EVERYTHING we don't, even in the most American car ever. I'll still take a Zo6 though.

Its appropriate that the Japanese Vette has a tacky mesh grille. We're selling their own rice back to them

Will these be made in Bowling Green Kentucky like the rest of the Vettes? They wouldn't be JDM if that were the case, they would be JIM (Japan Import Market) or something like that

Whats crazy is that GM is thinking of (and maybe they already have) releasing a Daewoo version of the Corvette in Asia.

It doesn't work like that. The word MARKET is the key word. As in the place the sales take place. All the Japanese imports here were built in expectence to come here. And built to USDM specs(A-spec),and sold on the USDM. Generally the J-spec cars get slightly more powerful enginnes, or better fascia design, more options, different lights or something. There is also a difference in the way the driving lights work, as well as a different side marker location. Sometimes the A and J-specs are the same, and once in a blue moon we get a little edge.

^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

the only rhd Vettes are the ones sold in Australia that are imported over to them and converted there.

After all that is done, add $30,000 to the price of the vette.

Except you can't be hassled by the Feds and have it confiscated for owning it.

I'll bet it gets more attn than a skyline over there. Just like you'd expect the opposite over here. As far as the car is concerned, I like everything but the mesh.

So it's a rapper's Corvette? Mesh grille and white leather inserts?

At least they put the wheel where it should be.

No, the key word is domestic. In america we call cars that are made by american companies "domestics" because the word domestic means "home". So USDM means Us "home" market... just like JDM means Japan "home" market.

The Corvette is not made in Japan... in Japan a Corvette made in the US would be an import, even if it were made to Japanese specifications. It is marketed outside its location of manufacture so it cannot be called "domestic" in the location that it is marketed.
