    Default Accel Junky's new ride - 2008 335i - Couldn't resist the turbo calling

Just got back from a european delivery trip. Technically I have to wait for it to arrive back here in the states, but owning this puppy is finally a reality. First mods when it gets back are the blacked out grilles and the OEM lip. I've got some good plans for her, but in general I'm glad to be back in a turbo vehicle.

Here are some choice shots (sorry for all of the ass shots, I'm an ass guy). For those wondering where they were taken, please refer to the episode of Top Gear where they drive the best driving roads in Europe

My friend bought one black on black about a month ago cash money!! I've been waiting for him to ask me if I wanted to take it for a spin. Last week we were on 78 and doing about 95mph and he gets pulled over by Dekalb's finest. After the ticket he tells me to drive but I'm so scared of getting pulled I drive it nice and slow. I romped on it down and on ramp and through the 285 to 78 sweeper-that was it. Man that thing is GOLDEN, I don't even know how to describe the powerband worst yet the handling-UNBELIEVABLE!! Paddle shift FTMW!! Seriously that paddle shift is off the chain!

Yep, spot on. They call it European Delivery. You can go to any european union country and stay over with the car for up to 6 months. They pay for insurance for up to 2 weeks and give you temporary registration (hence my plates, got one in my house as a souvenir as a matter of fact). It's usually cheaper to buy the car this way. Simply put, you are adding to production and eliminating some overhead so the "ED" invoice price is several grand cheaper than the US invoice price and there's no dealer trying to sell a hot car for as close to MSRP as possible because they only get allotted X.

Between all locations, about 720 miles of driving total. On location, these roads are literally on the side of the mountains. Right in the middle of the alps. Just a valley separating where the drive was from the mountains in the backgrounds.

Yes, that episode was my favorite as well. The sole inspiration for my trip. I mainly wanted to save money, but this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to drive on the stuff we don't have here.

Porsche, Mercedes, Volvo do it too. I think it may be an extra cost with some of those as opposed to an opportunity to save money.

wow, I really am jealous of your being able to drive "the best driving road, in the world" according to top gear! Thank goodness you didnt end up like that guy in the Gallardo they showed in one of the episodes after they did that segment.

Thanks! First couple are Italy (Stelvio Pass) Next few with the small lakes and such are San Bernardino (Switzerland) and the roads with the light colored stonework are the southern France (Col de Turini, used as part of a WRC race so I hear).

Seriously, its cheaper too since the company doesn't have to pay export taxes ect. Volvo gives overseas buyers two roundtrip tickets, arranges shipping the vehicle home when your done in europe, and tons of other incentives if you purchase from their factory in Gothenburg, Sweden. Im sure BMW and Mercedes do something along those lines. My grandfather has taken advantage of this deal twice from Volvo buying a V70 and XC90 from factory. When are trip was over we dropped it off in Paris and they arranged for him to pick up his car at the local Volvo dealer. He got a killer deal on a the 2006 XC90 and I got to drive it on the Autoban in Germany lol, I wish I could have driven a sportscar but with a 6speed auto 315hp V8 it was alot of fun.
Hope you had a great time man!!

Ahhhhh I just got back from France while back. Provence is where I want live. Below Mt. Ventoux in Rasteau or Roaix. I love wine country. Where else in southern france did you go??

I stopped in Nice where I dropped the car off for shipping and spent about a day and a half before I left. I was solo on this trip, so Nice really didn't do it for me. It was mostly high class shopping and restaurants. The beach looked good but instead of sand there were largish stones. Pretty uncomfortable. I just enjoyed the driving on my trip the most. I'm not really one for travel in general.

Saw a handful of cars on the Stelvio Pass, but almost everywhere else in the Alps I felt like I owned the place. I couldn't believe how few people were driving, but it was in the middle of the week.

Gas prices...ouch. Came out to around $8.50 - 9.00 per gallon if I recall correctly. I think I only needed 2 full fill-ups. Drove 720 miles total.

Shipping back, as I've been told, is supposed to be anywhere from 4-8 weeks. I've been tracking my car and it is scheduled to be picked up at the port around the 26th and will land in New York on July 7th. I expected another week or so to clear customs etc... and be trucked down here to the dealer for me to pick up. I dropped it off on the 14th of this month, so about one month is my best guess. I've read of some lucky ones that get it back within 2-3 weeks and some who wait the full 8 weeks.

The OEM lip transforms the front end. It looks 1000% more aggressive. I wouldn't be able to live with the look of the car if it wasn't available.

I drove one at Barber Motorsports park, its one of the best cars I've ever driven. Its quiet and fast with the windows down at Barber we were still able to talk to each other in normal voices with helmets on. I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot.

Quiet. You've got that right. It's actually pretty eerie. I've never owned a quiet car before, so this is a new feeling. It is definitely quick, trapping 105mph stock, but it is so quiet and smooth it's deceptive. But, I will have to tune it or reflash because I need more power than this coming from some of the cars I've had in the past.

I still miss my Supra, but I'll have another one in the future. Just need the big bucks to own multiple cars.

That's all I can say, really. I am truly envious of you, the car looks amazing, and I'd be willing to bet the farm that it's an unforgettable experience to be able to purchase a car, then take a trip like that in it.
