Default Paul's Custom Exhaust does my car!!!

So I went up with Tony (CarbonGS) yesterday to Paul's Custom Exhaust in Snellville, GA to get a custom "dual" exhaust done on my 1.8T. It ended up taking longer then I originally thought so the car stayed there overnight. Here are a few pictures of what went down

This is what my exhaust consists of now:

    - Evolution Racewerks Test Pipe
    - Techtonics Tuning 2.5'' Downpipe
    - Paul's Custom 2.5'' Exhaust
    - Magnaflow XL Turbo Series Muffler
    - Dual Magnaflow Oval Resonated Tips

The day started out well...for the first 2 minutes.

As soon as Tony and I left to get some grub we got a phone call from Paul saying that he had a coolant leak. We drive back fast and helped Paul take off the lower pan cover. This is what we saw when it came off:

The culprit of a smell that I have not been able to find for MONTHS

This is what we saw after we lowered the car back to ground level. The culprit of the leak was a coolant overflow tank line that was "not reconnected" after a recent paint job was done under the hood.

Paul got started on the piping by taking off all the old stuff.

Here are some shots of the old pipes

    new piping

    Me and the muffler man

Went back inside and Paul had installed the new muffler

Here's what one of the new tips looks like.

    Now for Today:

Tony has a few more pictures that I will get from him later (including the finished under body shots), but I snapped a few. Please excuse the terribly filty car. It will be detailed within the next few days for the show on Saturday.

Here's the muffler and the driver's side tip and the path for the passenger side:

Follow the pipes for the passenger side:

    Keep on going:

    Passenger side tip:

    ...and now the FINAL PRODUCT:

Now before anyone says anything. I KNOW it is a fake dual exhaust, I wanted it for looks. If I ever go BT ill do a QTP Cutout in the DP for minimal back pressure I cant imagine less back pressure though, its already LOUD.

For those who dont know me, a quick shot of the dirty (literally) dub :P

Bucky at SuperStar Customs airbrushed, painted, and polished a bunch of stuff. He just forgot to re-clamp the coolant line so it blew off...no worries though everything wiped right off.

Car looks good. Who ever the jerk was that took your picture should have told you your hat was crooked. That is just mean not telling someone there is something wrong with their appearence before taking a picture. Really though your car looks badass.

No I bought the muffler, test pipe, and downpipe then had Paul do the rest. The muffler I got BNIB off a guy on Audizine for $50 shipped. Too good of a deal to pass up. Retail is like $100, you can get them from Summit for around $60 + shipping and such: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=mpe-13288

Honestly...it cost me the same as a single setup would and I like symmetry. It looks cleaner like this and the added backpressure from the strange passenger side piping probably isnt much anyway since there is really minimal restriction in the rest of the setup.

Why did you snake the exhaust like that? If it's not going to function well why didnt you just weld up a dummy tip or something. Not a huge fan of it.

Welding a dummy tip would have been uber ricer...at least something comes out of this one. Like I said, I did it for looks. I know it increases backpressure, I know its not the OPTIMAL exhaust setup from a performance basis. I drive a 3500lb FWD Automatic car with a turbo the size of my fist...id rather have this exhaust looking good, then a single exhaust that would have netted maybe a couple extra ponies at the top of the rev range MAX. Like I said, if I ever got BT and build the tranny there will be a cutout on the DP and you wont have to worry about anything behind that.

It's pretty much the same to me. I can sympathize with driving an overweight fwd automatic though, I dont plan on going fast. I looked into cutouts I wish it changed the exhausts path and wasnt essentially just a hole on a switch.

I mean it is does change the exhaust path. The new path just doesnt have anything on it. I guess technically you COULD make a new path if you wanted to...not sure where it would go or where you could fit it though.
