Default i tamed the banked oval

and lived to tell about it . these are some pics from our SEDA drift exhibition we did at Hardeeville speedway on saturday night. hopefully our practice videos will be online pretty soon. my first time going at it on banked turns and it was pretty interesting to say the least, but we impressed the track managers and a lot of the racers and crowd even though we thought they'd find it stupid.
entry speeds on the banks were 70-80mph.

trying to scrub speed here to cut into the inner oval, i was all over the e-brake and brake pedal slowing myself to make this turn. that's the most speed i've ever tried to lose mid-drift to make a turn.

here's marty in the miata showing all of us how it's done. despite his troubles with keeping his ECU turned on, he was hitting the banks better than me on half the power

chad and his navigator chris rhoad coming off the 1/5 mile oval out onto the main track, sideways as always

fun trip. we had some casualties throughout the day, chris fragged his welded differential and left a 2" diameter hole in the rear case, but tophat sent a guy down from atlanta all the way to the speedway (4.5hrs) to bring a replacement so he could get home; i hit the rumble strips and my fan broke off of the radiator (thank god it unplugged itself or i'd be buying a new koyo too) and got a bit torn up, chad's car just ran funny unless he was full throttle, and marty's ECU turned off all the time. but they did ask us to come back soon and often because we filled the time between races and people seemed to really like it a lot. next time we will all be more prepared for sure

dam good drifting. shame i cant see it in action. from what the picture shows, you made that sudden halt look graceful.
