Default So, there is a unique Porsche turbo in north Atlanta now...

A buddy of mine, who some of you might have seen at the old North Point meets, just came back from LA with his new toy. He used to have an estoril blue 2000 BMW M coupe (for those that saw).

He has replace it with a new blue...

The color is bad-ass. It was a "match to color" option at the factory. Bugatti Blue is the official name. Oh, and these pics are a little old. The car no longer has the "bumper warts" on the front.

15k on the clock. Not bad for an '01... Anyway, I'm sure those of you that live up near Exit 7A/B on GA 400 will see this around a lot.

not bad. Some wheels will set it off though. maybe tint the windows, carbon the trunk/ lip and tie it together with some carbon wheels. A little something to break up the Blue a bit.

This is a Porsche, not a Civic. He'll get wheels, but adding the rest of the "carbon" pieces is just too rice in my opinion.

    LOL!

It's a different color for sure. It definitely has the "give me attention" vibe going. He needs to do something to offset the color as was mentioned before.

Any mods or is it strictly a looker?

You are too young to remember, but Porsche made that blue on their 911s back in the 60s and 70s.

It's chipped, but he'll throw on hybrid turbos and push around 550-600awhp when he is done.

Rice! There car doesn't need any carbon fiber! Why would he throw a GT3 wing on a turbo? It's not a GT3.

    You are ricing out turbo...

All that is required for 550-600awhp is different turbos and a chip?

That's not bad, but not enough to beat this Chevy, lol.

Yeah, it doesn't take much. The stock internals can handle just south of 640whp.

As for beating the Chevy, I think that in a real race he might do so. Given the suspension and brakes that he will throw on, Road Atlanta/VIR/Roebling/etc will be waiting.

He's going to race it for real: on the circuit track.

Have you ever heard of Strosic, Clause Ettenburg, Tech-Art, RUF,or Gemballa? They all use carbon fiber like its going out of style. I seriously doubt that those tuners/ manufacturers would be considered "Rice"

    You just dont get it!

yes carbon fiber is light and whatever but the point is its not trully "Clean"

    see here

all carbon fiber but it just isn't as aesthetically pleasing as sheetmetal.

No, I owned a 911 turbo for almost 5 years, but I have never heard of any of those.

However, in the 996 turbo commmunity across the US, carbon fiber is rarely used in the after market.

By the way, yes, I know of Gemballa, RUF, TechArt, etc very well. I don't necessarily agree with their methods at times, however. Sometimes they just go a bit "over the top" in a sense. It takes away from the TRUE look and feel of the Porsche design.

I think it's pretty nice. Yeah maybe some new rims and I'm not liking the interior blue peices. But other than that, it's not too bad.

The earlier 911 was Mexico Blue and i think they may have went back to that name on the 996?

The 993 C4S & 993 RS was available in a similiar color called Riviera Blue...

ruffian - I was joking. I know of all of those companies VERY well. However, "breaking up" the color on a Porsche isn't normally a recommended thing.

    He was being sarcastic silly.

...and i don't like the styling of 1/2 their stuff, alot of it is a little over the top and doesn't flow like a Porsche should.

    *edit*
With the exception of RUF, very few things they do i wouldn't call improvements...ever since the first yellow bird
