so basically from what you are saying (which was understood pre-my post) that because a 350z uses a different chassis and nothing from the previous Zs its no longer a Z?

Just because the GTR doesnt have the skyline name doesnt mean its not a skyline, did the r32, r33, and r34 GTR come all wheel drive? Did they come turbo? So what you are saying is that a car, who has the same characteristics and technology, matches that of a previous car, and also shares the "R" chassis code, along with being worldly known as "the new skyline" doesnt have a skyline emblem before the GTR part of the badging, automatically constitutes it as not a skyline?

    http://www.gtrnissan.com/?Site=nissanusa&Area=GT-R_Home

thats the website that nissan provided for the new GTR. Notice anything in the timeline? Uh oh...its all skylines. Yes, thats right a visual timeline of the history of the NISSAN SKYLINE. Oh jeez, guess whats at the end of the extremly long and detailed list and order of skylines? Uh oh, wait for it...

    THE ****ING GTR

    you are wrong.

Merry Christmas, and here are some reps to make your holiday more jolly.

PS: Oh, and just to let you know, the Skyline you posted is actually just the japanese version of the G35 Sedan with AWD. Which carries nothing from the previous skylines over to the new G based chassis. Nissan just dropped the skyline name to make it sell.

PSS: By the way, the first skyline wasnt a skyline, it was a 2liter little roadster 2000gt.

This car shares not much with the other Nissans. The Skyline and Skyline GT-R were bespoke models until 2002, when they started badged the Nissan Skyline the Infiniti G35 in America. The G35/37 are simply NIssan Skylines rebadged here.

Carlos Ghosen and company did many studies to see if the GT-R was to be profitable and could it be a performance don dada.....

They also flirted with calling it an Infiniti, as Infiniti dealers are dying for new product and complained that it would look retarded the most expesive Infiniti was going to be cheaper than a Nissan GT-R.

They separated the two names to be two distinctive cars. The GT-R was to be named a Nissan and be finally a WORLD car. For instance the R32 was only available in Japan and Australia.

The new GT-R has technology that no other Nissan/Infiniti has. The engine is not just a bore and stroke of the VQ.

Here is a video of what Nissan has accomplished. This car is EMBARRASSING everything out there for the PRICE.

Verdict: 'Nissan says it can build 12,000 GT-Rs a year if the market demands it. Something tells me that, despite the world's economic and ecological woes, it might need to make a few more than that. The GT-R is just that kind of car.'

'I simply pin the throttle wide open in second gear. At which point I am in no doubt that the GT-R has supercar pace. The last time I was this wide-eyed with shock was two days earlier when I sat on a Japanese lavatory for the first time and it squirted a startlingly high-pressure jet of water at me.'

Verdict: 'It comes to the UK in March 2009. Which at least gives us at evo plenty of time to scratch our heads over a potential group test, because at the moment I can’t think of any direct rivals.'

'It's an amazingly tractable engine pulling from way down low in the rev band, then energised by the twin IHI turbochargers all the way, uninterrupted, to the 7,500rpm red line. From launch to 62mph takes 3.6 seconds. On-boost the GT-R surges like a wild thing and it's a seamless surge too.'

Verdict: 'For [£60,000 - £65,000] you’ll get one of the world’s great fast cars, a techno tour de force, one of the best cars I’ve ever driven.'

'A bellow from the engine, a rush of revs, a gigantic accelerative force on my neck, second is gone, a flick of the right-hand, leather-trimmed shift paddle, bang, third gear slammed home and the mighty rush intensified still. My god, this car is fast, one of the fastest production cars ever made.'

Verdict: 'With an even more powerful and lighter V Spec GT-R on the way, Porsche can't afford to lag behind for long.'

'Partly it’s the traction but mostly it’s the pure and efficient flow of power to the road that makes the GTR feel so rapid. And that’s before you so much as mention what it can do through corners, which is when the gap between it and the 911 Turbo really opens up.'

Verdict: 'M3 style sideways amusement but with monster traction (read huge ground speed) thrown in as a bonus. And then there’s the interior, which is a surprisingly decent place in which to spend time, the proper sized boot, the never-ending standard equipment list, the looks. And the image.'

Now the only sad thing is Mizuno and his team made this car NOT to be modded UNLESS its by the factory. As far as they are concerned, the car should be STOCK as it was meant to perform that way. They have security measures in the engine/tranny etc that that make it very very tough to modify. If you do, the dealer will be able to read it and they will VOID your warrenty.

For instance, you cannot go to a tire shop to get new tires or slap some 22s on there. They are meant for the car and you have to go to Nissan to get the work done.

The V-Spec is on the way, lighter and with more power, if you want a factory modded car.

    3. The Awd skyline sedan is the G35X in the states.

You are only saying that it is overrated 'cause you can't afford one.

In truth, there isn't much that will touch this car for its price point aside from the ZO6. Honestly, this car is an INCREDIBLE buy.

nope its not the performance that turns me away from being interested in it.. its the fact that majority of IA members or people in general want to get their ass into one of these skylines.. thats why i think its overrated.. i rather put money out and get a rhd, something you wont see often in atlanta unless youre around rhd owners

Why is a car overrated just because a lot of people express interest in wanting to get it (if they can afford it). Majority of IA can't afford this car anyway. And also theres only going to be about 1200 or so alloted for the U.S. for the next year, so there won't be that many around.

    1. Right and its a Fairlady in Japan.
    2. This is also correct. The GT-R was the ultimate Skyline. For instance there were GTS models as well. Oh but The Acura RL here is the Honda Legend in Japan and the Acura TSX is a Euro Accord.

    3. Correct again.

Its for America only. They exported a few to China but they literally sold 12. Literally.
