Now all I have to do is wait on the clutch to get here, and just throw it all back in.

Yeah I saw you in Oakwood in my blue 04 STi back right after I got it, that is a nice car, I used my STi to pull a motor but Im not pulling my motor out of the STi, its intimidating under that big ass hood scoop.
man you gotta pull the whole motor to replace the clutch that sucks on my old 2g they just dropped the tranny but i guess since the sti is awd its a lil different either way you got some balls bro

Now do you see why it'd be harder to change it with the engine still in...?
Who needs horse power...?![]()
Subaru motors are a *****. Everything you do internally the motor has to come out. Good Job On doing it yourself.
would it have been easier to drop the tranny?
Lol no...Can't you tell by the picture? He'd have to disconnect all the lines and miscellaneous things and then drop the subframe or whatever that thing is and then drop the tranny and then try and put a clutch on while its in the car...I'd imagine that'd be a *****.Originally Posted by JITB

ok... So to my suprise, the clutch actually showed up early today, so I went to the shop this afternoon to get started on it... I got bolted up, and set it in the bay, but after 4 hours of fighting with it, I gave up until tomorrow when I can get some help... It just would not line up what so ever. If I had a proper chain/leveler, it'd be fine, but with the strap it just puts it at a weird angle and its a ***** to man handle it. I'm pissed to say the least.

connecting motor to tranny with one still in the car is always a pain in the ass..
you could just drop the tranny.. bet you could have done that in 4hrs..![]()
bump because i just looked at this on 240atl
I have done AWD suby clutches... I always just dropped the tranny. Seemed easy enough to me. Of course this is using a lift, not sure if you had access to that or not.
Yeah, if theres a lift its no problem, but when its on stands theres no room to drop it. Not to mention that the tranny with the diff weighs about 250lbs
^blah blah greg's just making ricer excuses. HAHA! jk
oh yeah... I'd rather pull the engine to make it easier...If I could get the tranny out, trust me I would.
ok, car is now doneThe clutch is much better than stock, but I can't really push it that hard til its broken in. I just have a few small things to do on it tomorrow night. But I drove it home just for ****s and giggles

damn so im gonna have to pull my motor to do a tranny swap.............eh ghey-lol. Nice meeting you sunday.
I don't know how the setup is on the Legacy, but I'm sure its similar though.
Good meeting you too![]()
Traffic and stiff clutches don't mix too well... Just thought I'd throw that out there.
