owned by Jim Glickenhaus. He is the owner/designer of the this one-off Ferrari P4/5 built by Pininfarina. Words cannot describe how beautiful this car is. It's a concept car come to life! It looks so much better in person. Definitely looks more proportional than the Enzo. Actually the P4/5 is based on an Enzo's chassis. I believe the Enzo that was used was the last Enzo ever sold and it still had plastic on the seats. The $650,000 Enzo was flown to Italy and taken apart. The whole transformation from drawing to finished product took only a year! Here are some things I learned about the P4/5:
- The cost of the total cost of the car was $4,000,000. There were 6 copies made of each part.
The sub-frame is completely unique. It allowed the designers to shorten the nose by 4 inches. It makes the car much more drivable on the street - you don't scape the nose. The Enzo needed the 4 inches for crumple zone. Radiator in the P4/5 is placed horizontal in the front and acts also as a crash barrier. There's also more capacity in the radiator. The AC has been supercharged so there's much more air conditioning. The car can run in 100 degrees with the AC on and run practically forever without any problems.
The computer in the car runs a CAD CAM program. The tablet PC in the car is basically a computer from a F16 jet. The whole car was designed in CAD CAM. Complete mathematical formulas are stored in the car. The car can replicate itself! It has all the math to recreate 100% of the parts in it. You can see the whole car on the PC. You can take apart the car on the PC. You can see how and where the part is made. You can take the whole car apart in only 12 hours!
No visibility out the back. Mr. and Mrs. Glickenhaus were actually scanned into a super computer and the side mirrors are angled so the driver can see completely behind the car - with only 2 mirrors.
The interior is unique. Controls are rearranged. Seats are custom molded. Seats are actually leather but made to look alcantara. There's even an I-pod connection
Basically the same motor used in the Enzo. The internal ducting is completely redone to get more air flow through the oil radiators and more flow to the air box in the engine. The P4/5 makes more horsepower than an Enzo simply because it has more induction. It makes a little more power. No mods were done to the air pollution stuff to keep it legal.
It has a valve in it that switches between lower exhaust and the upper exhaust. Below 3,000 RPM when you're stopped it keeps a pedestrian walking behind you from getting burned. Above 3,000 RPM it shifts upwards. The titanium rear wing actually moves.
It's faster than an Enzo only because it has a taller axle ratio - slightly taller tires. Top speed is 233 mph vs Enzo's 224. Actually the Enzo would go 233 if it had taller tires but it won't fit under the body. Faster to 60 in 3 secs. The reason because the tires are so wide and it can hook up better than an Enzo. Same size tires that are on the Bugatti Veyron but these aren't run-flats. Run-flats weigh 82kg. Too stiff sidewall, too stiff ride. One wheel is made from block of alloy. During banking testing, the drivers were putting 4,000lbs. of downforce. They put the body into the tires. There's tire marks inside the fenders. They had to stiffing up the springs.
Each headlight costs more than a brand new F430! $500,000 for the set!
