a few changes happening right now:

I took all of this out the other day. I work at a radio shop now in Atlanta so I have access to better equipment and more knowledge so it is time to update and rebuild.

    Sub box came out easily

    I need a bigger garage!

The spare tire that has saved me on several occasions BlueLex knows

All the junk that was taken out

If you guys remember my old friend's Passat show car then you'll notice this box.

After a freak electrical incident the car caught fire and it burned to the ground

Amazingly the trunk was still in tact and undamaged

So we made a deal and did some trading and I got his box and subs so that his car could live on in my GS

The subs are really what is gonna make this trunk. It is going to be an ARC Audio build. Gonna do it right this time too. If we reuse the box then it'll sit something like this

I will probably build a new box just to have it look cleaner and be more unique. Either way a part of my friend's car will live on in my GS.

This is only one of a few projects going on and I actually just confirmation today of a new mod that I've wanted forever and ever! I'm so happy Can't wait for them to arrive!

last night these things arrived in the mail. i am so happy to be the owner of these veilside mirrors! i've had my eye on these for about 2 years no and finally got the opportunity to get them from veilside.

    passenger side on

removed the rest of the door panels for another project

    passenger side on

    size comparisons

don't worry, i'm gonna do something to them. they aren't going to stay white.

lol definitely not keeping them white.

So now that I work up at American Radio in Cumming, I've got a lot of stereo heads and experts giving me ideas and helping me out. Big shout out goes to my buddies John Marsh, Scott Paterson, and Peter Lutz for helping out with this build.

As you know I already semi prepped the trunk by taking out the old system and some panels. Well, John took one look and said hmmm.

Called Scott over and he said hmmm.

Petey said here's your problem lol

Some of the goodies going in

    More demolition

    Now what?

    Maybe this?

The air saw was summoned lol

    Weight reduction FTW!

    Me so sad

Hmmm, think this hole is big enough guys? lol

John's thinking... we need sound deadening ASAP!

I dunno why I like to be in trunks working all the time. Being in my own makes me even happier lol

Peek a boo! I see you!

More to come. That is all that we had time to do today at the shop.

A pic of almost everything going into the car as of right now

Did a little more deadening last night and took some pictures of some of the speakers going into the car.

Arc Audio KS6006 Component Speakers are going to go in the front stage. Thanks to my buddy Pete Lutz for donating these towards the build!

    Mid Bass Driver

    Cross Over

    Arc Audio 10 D4 V2 Subwoofer (1 of 3)

New to the left and old on the right. It's gonna be fun making baffles for this one.

New tweeter to the left and old on the right.

Got Stinger Road Kill Expert Sound Deadening?

Me in my new favorite place

Jordan making his classic scary face before he starts to cut himself up

    Trunk lid is almost done

Jordan's handy work on the rear deck

    Jordan goofing around

lol the hole looks so much bigger with Jordan poking through haha

Jordan finishing up the trunk lid

This is when we ran out of deadening from the 1st bulk pack

    More to come soon!

Got the majority of the sound deadening in the trunk done now. Starting to see more progress in the form of extending wires and sub box floor boards.

Enter Stinger Roadkill Expert Sound Deadening bulk pack #2

Cut out a piece of MDF for the sub woofer box base plate leaving room for wires to be run

Fine tuned the mirrors and added sound deadening on the insides

Brett AKA Steve the Pirate helped me out with some deadening

I am determined to get every nook and cranny

Starting to look all deadened out

    car is amazing btw:thumbup:
    thanks slowly but surely

    more progress today:

got some rails for a super secret compartment and some PL400 to glue down the subwoofer enclosure floor board

used just about the whole bottle on the mdf board and then put the rest on the edges and put my subs on it to keep some pressure on it

since we are going to run wires a little differently in the trunk we decided to extend some wires so that we could route the wires away from the subwoofer enclosure.

Thanks to Mr. Marsh for doing this the right way. Solder Iron FTW!!!

Enter Sound Deadening Bulk Pack #3

    That is all for now

Took out the amoeba pod lol

    Disassembled the pod

Check out this crazy pioneer port action from factory

Made some baffles from 3/4" mdf

Looks like a little pig shape to me but whatever works

    Magnet size difference

    Speaker surface difference

Cutting out the holes for the speakers to drop in soon

Got around to taking apart the mirrors and painting them black. I was going to do carbon wrapping but the curves on the mirror proved to be too extreme for the threads to stretch without looking funny. Big thanks to Bucky for spraying them black for me.

Took off the mirrors while John was getting his Miata painted

Rough sanding down of the white paint that was on there

Took apart the mounts and mirrors to get both surfaces sanded and painted evenly

    Sanding the mirror cups

    Sanding the mirror mounts

    Ready for paint

    Bucky at work

    2nd coat

    Cleared over

Started to wire up the trunk

taping up the wires and labeling them

ran a set of primary wires for “custom wiring”

Wrapped up my door panel inserts

    Took apart the panels

    more to come soon.
