Default Evo & Subie mtn run 6-24-07

Some pics that I snapped with the cell phone during the day. Had a lot of fun, but I didn't drive. My tires and pads needed replacing before that kind of torture.

We went all over north ga. Still not sure of all the roads we took since I rode shotgun. I was just hanging on for the rollercoaster ride, lol!! Thanks for the ride YSBLTT! You can drive the wheels off an evo. I learned a lot though.

yeah the z and the subie had to leave early. we ended up leaving soon after them but had car problems so we hung around a bit longer...

i did see a bunch of ef's when we were going home, and one turbo white ef on 180. he was just stopped, and saw us pass by.

I was very impressed needless to say! Ed was pushing the car harder than I really though was possible. The evo really is an AMAZING car! What more can I say. I will be working to perfect my shifting after watching "how it's done" for the next run. I really want to experience it for myself.

It depends on who you ride with. I think we had one mishap when one of the Evo drivers understeered. That was about it. That and my brakes started to overheat on the downhill, but I stopped before it became a problem. All in all, it was a pretty responsible group and I've no quarrels with driving up there with them again.

Nevermind the fact that I was in 2nd & 3rd gear the whole f*cking run just trying to keep up.

He'd walk off and leave us(mostly b/c of local traffic). That Z is badass! I think Ryan and Ed could keep up especially in the twisties. But the damn slow locals...

Yeah, he went to Barber not to long back...let me find the thread and Ill paste a pretty impressive post.

    Found it:

Everything people have said about Barber Motorsports park is true: This is a world class facility, and a superb track. It has now become my new favorite. It offers amenities, such as an air-conditioned spectator viewing area, closed circuit video feeds from most of the turns, and impecably manicured lawns....even artwork adorns the racetrack.

Track conditions were absolutely brutal. It was 100F outside, and humid, and the track surface temp was 134F. We ran my car with just 9psi wastegate pressure, and Nitto NT-01's, and full interior. I corner balanced the car, and total weight with me inside and 1/3 tank fuel was 3425lbs.

With roughly 22K hard track and street miles on my original Darton Sleeved shortblock, the car ran remarkable well, even in the 100F weather. I ran a total of eight 25min sessions. This was my first time at Barber Motorsports Park, so Jose E. (zippy350z) was kind enough to ride along on the first session, and show me around the track, and also let me borrow his TracMate. This is by far, the most challenging and technical track I have driven, and was loads of fun. 80ft worth of elevation change, and many of the braking zones lead you to a blind apex...so you very much have to "feel" the track, since you can't see many of the turn you are braking for.

I made a video of my fastest lap of the day. Plenty of 1:46-1:47's, and when I finally had a wide open track on my last session, I ran a 1:44. Eagletangogreen was riding shotgun, and that is his helmet bouncing around in the frame. http://www.forgedperformance.com/med...os/barber1.wmv

For those of you that havent tracked your cars yet, it's an amazing experience, and I hope more of you decide to get into it. It's a true test of driver, machine, the tune, and the setup.

The NT-01's are a terrific tire. We were testing the 275/315 combo, with corner weighting, and we also lowered the nose slightly. Overall, I think this is the best DOT race tire you can find right now....at least the ones I have tried. I could easily drop 2 seconds off my time with some Hoosiers, but they only last me for two weekends on the track...at best. So I am using the NT-01's which last at least 3 times as long.

Seemed like most of the faster cars were in the 1:47 range for the most part, and I would say "Average" is about 1:50 or so.

The APR Porsche 911 TT's, driven by the pro drivers, were casually lapping at 1:40!
