You are correct, it was 2003. It won in FSP, Beating a slew of Scirocco's and a Mazda Protége. Mind you, he is also a professional driver and that car was extensively modified to the constraints of the rule book (I.E not stock). Also, for comparison purposes, note the class ranking for the car has gone down for competitive performance reasons in the last 10 years. It used to be in the same ranks as the Miata's and MR2's back when they were all in ES. (Now the Miata is both ES and CS, and MR2 is all over the place lol). Same here, been gettin then since 2002. Yeah there are very few that have the availability to use those type of programs even now. His car if i remember correctly was pushing the rules to the max, which isnt illegal, just that it was very well tuned. Also, most driver in the series today arent full fledged professional drivers, most dont even run a full season and make it to their national championships. Also, im sure you're well aware, Aono is an corolla specialist. he's been driving the cars for many years, and is considered by many as an expert with the car. Here is his competition car specs.
