CUT SPRINGS!! ....please get that fixed. i will give you that though...they are very fun to drive, being that they are very predictable and somewhat peppy that going back to the Nostalgic feeling i was talking ab earlier.....the 16v is a pretty fun motor to scoot around in but it takes ALOT of money to make a redtop "fast".....believe me in know. 20v or GZE is where its at as far as a somewhat fast, yet streetable 4ag is concerned. I'm not downing your car at all...i happen to like most all model years of corolla (especially late 80's early 90's) but the current over hyped attitude that they are some kinda handling/drift monster just bothers me......i'm not a huge fan boy but you should really try out those honda's before u knock them
actually taka aono (yes the formula d driver) won the scca autocross nationals a few years ago (2002 or 2003 i think) with a ae86 in street prepared

You are correct, it was 2003. It won in FSP, Beating a slew of Scirocco's and a Mazda Protége. Mind you, he is also a professional driver and that car was extensively modified to the constraints of the rule book (I.E not stock). Also, for comparison purposes, note the class ranking for the car has gone down for competitive performance reasons in the last 10 years. It used to be in the same ranks as the Miata's and MR2's back when they were all in ES. (Now the Miata is both ES and CS, and MR2 is all over the place lol). I never said the Corolla was a slouch; just that it’s not some super handling monster.

Same here, been gettin then since 2002 . Yeah there are very few that have the availability to use those type of programs even now. His car if i remember correctly was pushing the rules to the max, which isnt illegal, just that it was very well tuned. Also, most driver in the series today arent full fledged professional drivers, most dont even run a full season and make it to their national championships. Also, im sure you're well aware, Aono is an corolla specialist. he's been driving the cars for many years, and is considered by many as an expert with the car. Here is his competition car specs.

    HIS ENGINE

    - 4AGE 16 valve motor by Hasselgren Engineering. which consist of: an AE101 block, lightened AE111 crank/rods, ported high comp 16v head, oversized 7MGTE valves,288 duration/10.0 lift cams, Underbucket shim set up, Hasselgren 11.3/1 CR 82mm pistons, Hasselgren 47mm throttles etc

    Freedom ECU

    - Earl's 19 row oil cooler

    Baker Precision fuel lines

    Griffin Radiator

    HIS Suspension

    - TRD race shocks with 550 lb springs

    Watanabe 15x9J with Falken Tires

    - Rear: Tokico race shocks with Swift springs

    Watanabe 15x9J with Falken Tires

    - Battle Version Tension rod & Pan hard rod

-Battle Version roll center adaptors & rear 4 links

    - OS Giken limited slip diff w/ 4.7 final drive

-- OS Giken super single clutch

the car is more over built then most would assume. the local FSP guys here wouldnt stand a chance running coilovers, r -comps, sway bars and full exhausts on even more underpowered cars lol
