Well back in the early 80's they were very competitive road race cars (IT classes etc) here in the US. They are light weight, Rear wheel drive, 5 link rear, cheap, and had an amazing twin cam motor for back then. remember anything N/A 4 cylinder making 100+hp factor was pretty exclusive. later other companies caught on and the Corolla died off here, with the exception of a few enthusiasts. Then came that God awful Anime show Initial D, and hell broke loose. Then everyone in japan was wanting to run like Takumi and drift an "86" lol....then slowly but surely the US market caught on, and everyone and their mother wanted an outdated, underpowered version of the same car that became popular in the TV series. For the most part, the only reason ppl run them now a days is the Nostalgic effect they have on the owners, that or as an entry level drift car, in which case is ab the only thing they are somewhat good for or competitive at....they handle like shit. In any case they are pretty fun cars to own and if done up right can even look pretty good. As for Accords though......wtf were you thinking!

Wtf? Corollas do not handle like shit. The one i own now has Cut springs and handles very nicely for cut springs. And nice set of hts shocks and choosing the correct spring would be alot better. Imo the corolla is awesome to drive, moded 4age redtop can put some decent power. N/a ofcourse. And not everyone owns one. unlike a honda. 240s etc.
