    Another question, did the pistons hit the valves? You make it sound like you had a timing belt failure.

    No, I didn't have a broken or slipping timing belt. I had just gotten the car and did not know if it had been changed or not, so I changed it. The crankshaft bolt came loose and the pulley was spinning freely on the crankshaft. Actually, the key slot seems ok, the key itself and the pulley received the most damage. I'll try to take a picture either later tonight or tomorrow.
