    Default sony headunit troubleshooting

just got a sony CDX-GT300 (cheapo) headunit for xmas and installed it. the issue i'm having is when it's on tuner mode the audio is fine, but when i put in a CD i get audio only from the front left speaker. i double checked my wiring and such and i can't see a reason for 3 of 4 speakers shutting off in CD mode.

can anyone shed some light on this? is there an odd setting that i'm missing?

sounds like a problem with the headunit, not install.

lol, all i need is something that works and plays CD's. maybe i'll try to plug something into the front AUX input and see if i get all 4 speakers working that way. just seems like too stupid an issue to be anything other than a bad unit.

finally got around to messing with it. i was overly sure i had the wiring right and sure enough it was install error. i mixed up the antenna remote for the amp remote and when i'd switch to CD it was killing the power to the factory amp.

a blown speaker can shut down a cd player just because the speaker plays doesnt mean that its fine, use a multi meter and check the ohm load of each speaker. Sony and JVC radio have a common issue with doing that more so then other companies.
