    Default GOOD 4 channel amp

Ok, I don't do car stereo, so I know DICK about it. I do the "go fast" thing, and none of my knowledge applies to this, lol. Anyway, I need a GOOD 4 channel amp to run my seperates. I've got a PPI amp for the sub, and I was told PPI is good, so I now I need something of equal or better quality to run my surround speakers. I don't wanna put any bullshit equipment in my car, but I have no clue of what to look for or where to start. The brands I've seen are Phoenix Gold, Pioneer, Kicker, Audiobahn, Soundstream, PPI, Alpine. I'm looking for something that's around 100 X 4, give or take, of good clean sound. Any suggestions from those who have some good knowledge of what to get?

    Phoenix gold rsD500.4
    Diamond D9800.4
    Eclipse XA4000
    Zapco C2K-4.0X

thats just a few. If you look up prices, you will see they range anywhere from a 3 or 4 hundred, to well over 1500.

You just ahve to know whats in your budget and how much you really need. Unless you are running some very high end components, with a high end electronic x-over, with a very high end purpose built install. You arent going to notice any real difference between any of those amps.

Well, I obviously don't wanna go overboard, because the stereo is pretty basic, but I want something that has good clean sound. Can a quality 4 channel amp be had for around $3-400 dollars? I only have 1 10in sub, and surround speakers, because all I wanted was some nice full range sound, not huge bass or to overdo it stereo wise. I saw an Eclipse EA4000, is that amp any good? I see many different amps from the above manafacturers, are there things that I need to look out for when making my selection? Thanks again guys. I appreciate the input/suggestions.

you want you look at effiency(sp), THD+N, and RMS power. If you are only running an average 10(around 300rms), then I woiuld say to just get a 2 channel amp to power your front speakers. Power your rear speakers off the deck. Doing this will keep most of the sound in the front of the vehicle where it belongs instead of pulling it back.

For something at or under $400, I would throw a Polk Audio 400.4 into the mix of amps to look into.
The Eclipse EA400 is a decent amp. I have one in the Mazda3 (bridged to power the front speakers). For $3-400, you will have several good choices.
