run the wire that they ran to your ebrake to a 12 volt power source like your power antenna or turn on lead for your amp

Do NOT do that. You could fry your unit.

It depends on what unit that you bought on how to bypass it.

If it is a Kenwood, you ground the parking brake wire. You do not hook it to a 12v+ source. Alpine is different, you have 2 wires that you need to trigger in the proper sequence. Other brands vary from that also. And you definately do not want to hook it to your power antenna lead. That wire is designed to supply a 12v+, 500ma output. Without knowing what amount of current draw you are going to have, you could kill that circuit on the radio unit.

    What unit do you have?
