    memphis has good shit too

guy I used to compete with was doing 159+ with a single DD9515 in a focus hatch.
edit: that was 159+on the term-lab. One the Audiocontrol SPL180 he was doing 164+

    W6v2's > W7
L7 > Solo X because of price toperformance ratio
    aidiopawn = garbage
MTX 9500 = very nice and not overlyexpensive
memphis = ok entry level gear except for the belle

This post has got to be a joke, haha. I got 2 13W7's in my truck and metered a 153.? on the mic meter with some charging issues, in a box made for looks rather than SPL. Audiobahn has good shit?? Since when? Audiobahn is just plain shit, especially with their floss sized wire terminals. Just chrome plated turds.

Dunno/dunno, but I assume its between 8-10 cu. ft, dual ports/JL 1000/1 per woofer.

Lemme upload a pic of the box and PM you the link.

Wasnt the 180 just done at this past years finals? Either way I remember everyone on the car audio forums joking around about how the world was going explode when someone broke 180

Michael, for an indication on how loud this stuff is, Scottie Johnson had 9 Adire Brahma Extremes with 10kw on EACH and hit a 178.x there was a video floating around of one of his runs with that setup and it cracked the frame on his door

180 was broken unofficially last year by team loud. Officially it was broken this year at combined finals, not db drag.

Scotties truck is insane heres the link to his vid of realm of excursion.

His amp rack was always my favorite part of that setup, not because of the design just due to the sheer amount of amps he had...he had 4 1501Ds strapped to each sub so that was 36 amps alone. Then he said he carried an EXTRA 12 amps "just in case." I mean everyone needs 120,000 watts on tap, right?

Im suprised im not seeing anyone even mentioning old school orion. I used a Orion H2 12.4 hooked up to 3000w Power Acoustik amp and with one sub i hit 141.9 dB. Its good, and i bought both of the ones that I now own for 300 a piece shipped.

and for the record the loudest sound possible due to the limits of sound waves is 194 dB. I looked it up online awhile ago.

    http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/nois...tml/hp194.html

so if you ever here anyone say that they are louder than 194, smack them with a large trout

Jimmy, have you ever heard Memphis audios full lineup? Ive got a full memphis setup, and i can tell you its nowhere near entry level. Maybe the lower power reference series, but the MClass line is amazing, and the M3 subs are even better.

Theres nothing entry level about a 300 dollar pair of components.

those $300 components arent much more than overpriced entry level. Both sets of components I have had were over $600. A/D/S 346is and older focal k2p's. I wish I could afford a new set of k2p's. my ex decided I didnt need them and tore them out with a pry bar.

dont think that name brand subs are the best .some off brand subs can hit harder than name brand subs .. we got 2 of these 10" Audio Pipe subs and hit 144.0 db and they are $70.00 Each..

i find calling a subwoofer the "best" is one that can last and still sound good. not just how many db they can put out.

you can make any sub hit. it all depends on the box and the amp. you can make some wallmart road gear subs hit

there is no such thing as the best woofer everyone has a differnt tone to there ear some like spl some like sq some like sql. it all just depends on wat sounds good to u. a 900 dollar sub that sounds amazing to me might not sound as good to you. your 200 sub prolly sounds better. so it all depends on what your ears like.

like Sina said, best is dependant on:
    your listening habits
application which the sub is going to be used
    power and enclosure limitations
    budget

take all of those and then add in personal taste and there you go, the best sub made.

I think I said this already but I'll post it again
    my top 3

def. go with something that matches your usage. dont buy someone elses system, make sure u tailor it to you and your needs.

    Anyone seen these...new RE XXX:

Or how about these Rockford Fosgate Competition Subs:

From what I've heard about them..great SPL no good for SQ at all. Don't know if theres truth to that but it makes sense. Resonant Engineering is wicked though!!

Image dynamics subs are the shit. Ive ID subs for years, everyone is amazed at how well they handle power and dont distort. They also enjoy small airspace. Ive also had a jl 12w3 in a virtual tech box that pounded like crazy.

I have read ithis thread and have seen only one person asy anything about the subs that hold the workd record 179.6 Pioneer TSW-5000SPL
now my $.02 goes like this

pioneer tsw 5000spl, RE, DD, Rockford's T2 15s, brahma, crossfire

w7s are descent for SQ only they reach there excursion limits with very little power applied

i have 4 t2 15s and over 20,000 watts of power on them.

I have had Alpha soniks 800series and hit 150+dbs on 3000 watts
again its on how you have the system designed

and oh man ...i'v seen heard done a lot of setups.....
and you will be amazed how some of the less unheard ,unespected subs out there will do ...
some of the best bang for the buck....interfire,db drive, coustic,ma audio,crossfire,mtx....and the list go's on and on....these,will do the same,if not out do a lot of known name brands out there..

You have to give it to pioneer, coming from that crap that they used to put though, the newer subs are good, and the 3004 is the best bang for the buck in my opinion. I have one only on 500 watts and it hits fine in my civic. But i am trying to spend a lil to get about a 1000 watt amp from someone b/c its rms is at 1000

kicker makes low end SPL subs. JL makes a damn good, but overpriced product. For daily beating I would love to try the new Alpine type X. Either that or see if I can find myself a few 04 or 05 RE XXX 12's

Eclipse subs are also really good. They may not hit as hard but they got a real nice clean crisp sound.
