    Default bass trouble

    im working on a small system and it works fine until i turn up the volume then the bass cuts out not all the way but somethings not right and the amp power light flickers a little when this happens.its like the bass is louder at lower volumes then turning it up turns the bass down. does anyone have any ideas?

    you are running to small of an amp, or an amp that is not matched properly to the speaker.. or.. you are running to small of power wire, or... you do not have enough batter/alternator to support it.

    nope they arent volume dependent.. it is definatly a power/amplifier/speaker issue.

    no doubt it is some where in your wiring or power supply weather at the beginning with your battery or at the end with your. amp. also check and make sure that your inline fuse or circuit breaker are working properly or are secure.

    sounds to me like too small of a power or ground. what amp do you ahve and what size power and ground wire are you using?

    kenwood amp 920watts the power wire is 4 guage and it goes into a distribution block and then its 8 guage to the amp and the ground wire is also 8 guage.

    got it, it was one of the subs, i guess the voice coil is shorting out.the sub was new so i didnt expect it to be a problem.

    Sounds like you might wanna adjust the gain using a digital multimeter too, if you dont know how too, your installer should know how too, i would hope so.

    If you dont have access to a multi meter, there is always the tried-n-true method of you EARS to adjust the gain. I have set a "few" amps with only my ears, that have sounded pretty decent if I say so myself.

    Others have been set with an RTA....but thats not a common tool in the average DIYer tool box.
