New set up: NEED ADVICE
Right now I have 2 10 inch pioneer shallow mounts 800w each 250w rms 2 ohm single voice coil bridged to a 1000w cruch amp... I have been looking around at other shallow mount manufacturers in hopes to upgrade to a better stereo with more "thump and clarity.. I came across DB drive shallow mounts... I called the DB wharehouse in Marietta, I told them I strictly wanted 10 inch shallows bc I dont wanna have to build another custom box for my truck. They said they have 10 inch shallows at 500w max dual voice coil 4 ohm and a 1500w DB amp that would work perfect with the subs.. they said it would "thump" harder than my pioneers that are bridged.. I am also getting all new components tweeters, crossovers and a cap.. just wanted an opinion... which do you think would be the better of the two?? Thanks for any input and reps will be given

I sell DB Drive and the shallow mounts sound amazing and hits like regular subs. The 10" K5 Flats will be in shortly...they just released them. The amp they suggested in the A3 1500.1D amp which is around 1000rms @ 1ohm and 500rms @ 2ohms. So running them on that amp would be about double the RMS rating for the subs, but if your enclosure is small enough it should be fine. If you want a closer matched amp, the A3 1000.1D amp will be around 600rms @ 1ohm. Here is an install we did in a Mustang GT Convertible with the 12" K5 Flats. If you want to hear them, let us know and we can have the car at the shop.

As for other brands, the only other ones I would suggest in a decent price range are the Alpine's or JL's. For the price though, the DB's will be a better choice.

thanks for the help.. the guy I talked to said that these were the k5 10's. I do have a very small enclosure, hopefully it will be ok. should I wire it 1 ohm or 2 ohm?? thanks

Yes, you spoke to most likely Mike or Hector. You would wire them in parallel down to 1ohm (2 Dual 4ohm subs). The K5 Flat 10's were just released from DB Drive, originally they were only making them in 12's. The 10's should be in between Thursday (tomorrow) and Monday.
