Thread: Help with new system amp settings.

  1. #1

    Default Help with new system amp settings.

    Just put together my new system. Need some help with the amp settings to get this thing to bump.

    1-12" Kicker L5(2ohm)
    Hifonics Brutus 1200watt amp(1200x1ohm, 900x2ohm, 450x4ohm)
    1.65.C.F, ported box.

    As of now I have the sub wired to 1 ohm. The AMP manual says to match the headunit pre-out volts to the gain, My pre-out volts are 2v,so I turned my gain all the way up to 2v.

    I have theres available settings;
    Low pass:35hz-250hz
    Subsonic:15hz-35hz
    bass EQ:0-10db
    phase:0-180degrees

    the low pass is a filter keep it all the way down and nothing but bass comes out the sub instead of bass and words, so i would keep it down as far as the rest i cant really tell you what to put it on, what i do when i set mine or my friends amps is i get them to turn it up as loud as they listen to it and i mess with it till it sounds right as far as quality and bass, i cant really tell you how you want it to sound. thats the best i can do bro

    Setting amp gains and crossover points without being in/with the car is probably NOT the best way to go about things.....we can guess, but thats about it. You can bring the car by American Radio in Cumming, and I can help you get things right....

    Thanks guys,I think im just going to have to admit,that the L5 does not compete at all with the L7..That hits alot harder and sounds alot better. o well..

    just turning the gain all the way up is not right either. your best bet is to have redgst tune it for you. having it properly tuned will make a huge difference.
