Unhappy Sub doesn't play at full volume

i have an Eclipse AVN7000 head unit and i have a MA audio amp hooked up to a Solo X 10". the problem i am having is that it is send a weak signal to the amp and only playing at about 1/3 the volume but every now and then it will play at full volume. the speakers in side the car work fine. i tried using a different amp and i had the same problem. anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Thanks

sounds like a clipping issue. i doubt its your radio. i just dont thing your amp is worth a damn or its pulling too much current. when your sub cuts off check and see if the amp turns off

if the amp was cutting off the sub would stop playing, not just lose some volume. its possible its the amp, but he says he threw a different amp on it and its having the same problem, if its the preamps in the radio, it has to be repaired or replaced. does it cut out randomly or when it hits hard?

before you go replacing your radio, check the ground for the amp, make shur you have a good solid ground with good contact, i had the same problem and i changed the ground and it worked fine
