I have had many people over the years bring their cars to me where they tried to build their boxes with just wood glue and every one sounded awful, leaked, and or fell apart, wanting it rebuilt. Like I said I would never recommend it, but if it is working for you then . Plus even for it to work it would take a shop with a very experienced woodworker with the tools for perfect joints, which most have neither.
i can agree there alot of badly build boxes and badly tuned boxes running around atlanta. When i got into car audio years ago i lived by screws because when i started building boxed my cuts weren't that great on the table saw and screws make it easy and faster(being honest and humble) With time i got better and my cuts got better learned how to use the tools correctly and having a dad in carpentry work and construction helps too. most of my joins on my boxes are done on cnc or a routers which helps but i see your point.
