i need to build a box for a quantum audio Q12D2SPL its a monster lol. the site says 1.50 cubic ft as the dimensions. is this right? it seems really small.where can i find an actual list of the specs needed to build the box?

yes i am....
For the 12", it is 2.0 cuft. Now remember the sub is extremely large, so to end up with 2.0 cuft, the enclosure needs to be around 2.5 cuft...so when you drop the sub in it killing about .5 cuft with the displacement.
Volume - 2.0 cuft
Tuning - 34Hz
Port Diameter - 4"
Port Length - 8"
to say the sub will take .5 cubes away from the box is nuts! I have an RE XXX 15d2. The sub mounts into the box with a height taller than a 2 Liter bottle of coke. Even with a sub that is taller by 2 inches than a 2L bottle of coke with a monster of a basket it only takes up .27 cubes of disp. In fact the only sub I know of that has that kind of disp. is the 22 inch sub from Atomic, and the MTX jackhammer. the 22 or 24 i forget now lol. half a cube of disp is alot of space for a subs motor and basket to take up.
Mods- High flow cat, Flowmaster stage 2 exhaust, Intake, Lots of wiring upgrades, h/o alt, 2 18's walled, off 8000 rms custom interior VERY LOUD (152.3) on music and a 156.6 outlaw.( system sounds alot like this!!!
to make a rectangular shaped sealed box that is 1.85ci inside out of 3/4 inch mdf what would the measurements be,i keep coming up with 18tall 22 wide and 10.95 deep i drew it and it looks really odd to me help!
yes i am....
yeah i spoke to a tech at db or quantum audio, and they reccomended 1.80 cubic ft inside the sealed box,they give 1.5 as a basic box anything less than 1.80 with sub in the box is holding the sub back.now i just need to pick a shape![]()

to get cubic feet from inches LxWxH/1728.
You need to choose 2 of your own dimensions. If this is going in the trunk of a car, then the easiest way to do it is choose you width and height. Then calculate how deep you need to make it. Measure how wide you can go, measure how tall you can go, and then calculate how deep you have to go. Then plug it into this.
(W - 1.5) x (H - 1.5) x (D - 1.5) = 3197 (which is 1.85 cu ft. internal)
So if you measure that you can go 30 inches wide and 13 inches tall, you plug this in and you get your depth.
(30 - 1.5) x (13 - 1.5) x (D - 1.5) = 3197
28.5 x 11.5 x (D - 1.5 ) = 3197
327.75D - 491.625 = 3197
327.75D = 3688.625
D = 11.25 inches

So this leaves your box measuring 30 x 13 x 11.25 on the outside with a volume of 1.849 cu ft inside.

Sorry, don't know where I got 1.85 from, you said 1.8...same deal...
(W - 1.5) x (H - 1.5) x (D - 1.5) = 3110.4 (which is 1.8 cu ft. internal)
So if you measure that you can go 30 inches wide and 13 inches tall, you plug this in and you get your depth.
(30 - 1.5) x (13 - 1.5) x (D - 1.5) = 3110.4
28.5 x 11.5 x (D - 1.5 ) = 3110.4
327.75D - 491.625 = 3110.4
327.75D = 3602.025
D = 11 inches
So this leaves your box measuring 30 x 13 x 11 on the outside with a volume of 1.801 cu ft inside.

here you go.
http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...me-calculator/
it has different calcs for different shape boxes.
or look if your doing ported to re audio box calc. they also have tuning freq setups as well.

that does seem a lil small i had 2 12's in my old 2g eclipse and they both were 3 cubic foot a piece for a 12 1.5 seems a bit small
i got the sub in a temp just for kicks pro box one of those rino lined hatch boxes,and its sealed well i had to add sealant around the ring on the sub to make it 100% i know its to small at 1.50 cubic ft . i need to get one built for sure.
