    Default 10w7 question

I have a memphis 1000.1 and a 10w7 I was told that would need to get another amp because that amp is not a good mtach for that sub. I have it hooked up now and im not getting a lot out of the sub. could it be I just need another amp or just need to wired a different way?

what impedance are you running the W7 at? You are going to need to get it down to 1 ohm to get decent output from that sub, and Memphis amps are stable at 1 ohm. Also, what kind of enclosure is it in? Ported will give you more output with less power required.
    Who knows?

You don't run subs at ohms. The impedance of the sub and how you wire determines the impedance your amp runs at. Subsequently determining the output of the amp. That amp will make your sub sound really really good. May not be the perfect match, but I have ran several W7's on 1000ds. Hope that helps.

i guess I could phrase it better. he should WIRE the sub in parallel assuming it is DVC. I know on my 13W6v2 running on my memphis belle 1300d I get PLENTY of output....

Ahh the Belle. LOL. Love those amps.Like the old school ones better though. Yeah as long as you can get that 1000 down to 1 ohm you will not be dissapointed.

Hell yeah. I had 2 of the first ones. Big chrome 75x4 on one side 150x2 on the other. With the yellow bombs on it.

maybe i'm mistaken then, mine is the one that is silver, ridged and does 75 RMS x4 + 1100 RMS x1 with the logo centered on top that says Memphis Belle.

yeah. thats the third ones that came out. The first one I had with the yellow bombs was still a Fultron. The second one was identical but it was right after they changed to Memphis. I always wanted one like yours but never did get one. Nice amp bro.

On those amps just make sure whoever does it knows what they are doing. Make sure they don't run a long chassis ground. Keep it under 12 inches. Also run your power and audio signal on opposite sides. Should be done always with any amp, but d class Memphis amps are really phinnicky(or however it is spelled)lol. Also use at least a 4 gauge power other people will say 10 or 8 will work and it will, however it is always better not to half a** your installs. Hope I was of some help.

If you can swing up to Cumming, I suggest American Radio 678-455-3201

Anything close to or around 1000 (real) watts, and I suggest 4awg wire.....anything less, and you are choking the power supply to the amp. Power and ground wire should be the same gauge.

damn you guys have no idea what you are talking about.

the 10 inch w7 is a single 3 ohm sub..... ONE VOICE COIL....it can only be at 3 ohms you cant wire it up OR down(series or parallel)

find out what power your amp makes at 2 ohms and 4 ohms and right in the middle is what your 10 will be seeing..... give me the model # for the amp and i will find out for you......

    i'd suggest getting a 500/1 jl

post your amp on caraudio.com forums and find you a 500/1 on there.....

LOL, that is what I was thinking as soon as I started reading this thread. This is why the JL Amps are the best fit for their subs. They run the same rated power from 1.5ohms to 4ohms.

I'm pretty sure I said that earlier just didn't go into the whole 3 ohm deal. But his amp will work great. More than enough power to cover the difference the amp will put out at 1.5 ohm to if he had the amp to 1ohm with a standard 4 or 2 ohm sub. I personally do not like JL amps. And I know what I'm talking about. I installed for 12 years MECP certified, till I got tired of it. Not talking s***, just clarifying things.
