    Default Need Ambulance Audio Help

Update: I found all my audio stuff for the time being. It will still be some time before I finish this thing because I just bought a 1997 ford F450 to put the box on. Scroll down for a pic.

I remodeled this ambulance in high school over 7 years ago, used it for about a year, and it has been sitting since. I am now in the process of getting it running again but have removed some of the audio stuff for other projects. It now all needs to be replaced.

    OLD SETUP
    MTX 7000 with profile amp
    Rockford hpc1369 6x9s
    600(300rms) watt 4 channel amp for 6x9s
900(450rms) watt 2 channel amp for sub

I still have two of the 6x9s and the 900 watt amp

    WHAT I NEED
    4 6x9s
    1 15" sub
Amps for both(could use old one)

I would like to keep this low to mid budget. As long as it sounds equal or better than the old setup, that is good enough. Any sudgestions?

    Thanks,

Anyone heard of DC Sound Lab? I'm thinking of getting one of their 15" level three subs. looks like they can be had for $180-$200.

My brother was an EMT and he said this ambulance was only used for patient transfers because it was so slow. It's a diesel with 3 speed tranny with 4.10 gears and can only hit 75 downhill with a tailwind. I'm sure some people died in it but the smell is long gone.

Thanks everyone including the few pms i got. Right now I looking to get either some alpine 6x9s or MB quarts. I havn't decided on the 15" sub yet. I'll be using an alpine cda-7998 head unit.

Well, I ended up getting 2 6x9s on ebay to match the 2 I had. I also got an amp for $30 to match the one I already have. Now, I just need the sub. I think I'm just going to get something cheap untill I can afford to do things right. I need to work out a few kinks in the mechanicals before I drop anymore money into audio.

Just because. No other reason. It is a very fun vehicle to have when camping and we even took it to our senior prom in 2001. It will tow almost anything and the project was reasonably cheap. I love working on cars and wanted to do something unique. I wouldn't choose a project like this now, but when you are 17 in high school with nothing else better to do in a small town, why not?

    That... is cool as hell.

Would be an awesome show vehicle... tow the car to the show then camp out drinking in the ambulance. HA!

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

Thanks. I'm fixing it up because there have been countless time I have thought, "I wish the ambulance was running so we could take it to _______." I got it running good last weekend and only need to work out a few bugs.

    Thanks,

I installed everything this weekend and it sounds better than I expected. The one 15 provides just enough bass and the 6x9s have a good sound as well. I wasn't able to use the alpine head unit beause the cd player wouldn't work but I had a pioneer to put in its place.

I still have to install a new tank for the rear auto leveling air ride suspension and get the injection pump properly timed. In a week or two, I should have the mechanicals finished as well. Fresh paint sometime this summer and it will be finished.

I looked into that but sofas would be way to big plus the benches are covering the wheel wells and outside compartments. I do plan to add seat cushions sometime in the future.

Thanks for the reps, I returned them all if I could.

I'll be working on the F450 this weekend. Its running a little rough but shouldn't be a big issue. I have an extra motor to rebuild that will go in eventually. I also need to rebuild the transmission (5 speed, lost reverse) or buy one from a junk yard.

I've gotten that response a few times but it has never bothered me. I'm more afraid of the living.

Not that it makes a difference but it was used as a transfer ambulance and never used for emergency calls. With a 3 speed automatic and 4.10 gears, it couldn't even hit 70mph unless you were going downhill with a tailwind.
