JL is just more out there... its more considered a luxury high end sub because you see them more in high vehicles.. IE.. lexus... BMW... all that... but i know of a dozen other subs that out rate them and out pound them.. AND COST MORE LOL
true high end is expensive. Ask R-Rated how much he spent for his Focal be's, then compare that to the JL xr's? I know someone that spent about 3k on a head unit that to look at it was nothing special. It didnt even have an internal EQ.

jl is nice, id take it if there was a deal on it. But spending regular monies ive always got memphis (4-5 cars) i use their m-class in doors, and got a mojo 10 and a 500.1 in truck right now and it absolutely pounds

it does make them luxury because point....... you see them in luxury cars.... i mean ... you have a benz...black leather all that stuff... are you doing to buy silver face mtx's or some jls to flow with the interior.. its more of a conversation piece.. yo i got the new s550 and two JL audio w7's ... wow you got w7's... ok
and i know there are more system's that out pound jl... i have a couple in the storage room... or AUDIO maze as the homies call it that together cost me less then the JL's and out pound them

there's plenty of speaker that will out pound jl's but the thing is that the quality is so good that it goes with that car

Memphis is the best for the money. PR's are very reasonably price and give you about anyhthing you could want. And if u want to step up there is the m3 and if you really want the big daddy the Mojo is basically in a league of its own. For the money Memphis is the way to go but if money is not an object then go with JL.
At the same price ranges for the Memphis subs I would look into Image Dynamics PR you can look at the ID line, the M3 look at the IDQ and the Mojo look at IDMAX. Either of those will sound as good or better, be louder and cost the same. Last I checked though the IDMAX was cheaper than the MOJO though.
If money is not an object, JL is the bottom of what you should be looking at. I could build an all Focal and Audison system that would completely dominate a JL system.
i PREFER JL audio, and actually i'm selling a 12' w3 with a kenwood amp for $400 hit me up...need cash for a house dp!
