Default kicker L5 10 is amazing!!

i just picked up a kicker L5 10 inch sub and its in a custom built wave box,all i can say is amazing it makes so much bass its crazy and from a 10 its unreal and the sound quality is awesome its so precise it brings a tear to my eye
it does not need much power either ive tested 2 amps so far on it one was like 75watts and it hit so hard, harder than my 2 kicker cvr 12's with a kicker 300/1 amp. i keep the sub turned down and the bass im not really in to big boom, but if i want it its there. people think i have like 4 15's hahaha. im a alpine person normally but this sub in this box might have changed that....
    yes i am....

I wasnt going to mention the SQ, thats why I elft this thread alone. I have to say though that the L5 and L7 series subs are some of the worst sounding, non competition subs i have ever heard. Yes they get loud, but they dont sound good doing it.

ive gone to a few SQ comp and to my suprise i have some award winning cars that run solo baric L7's and they sound fine to me im not sure what type of enclosure they were in and what their tuning freq was but it sound great and blended in fine with the front stage. I just think that most L5 and L7 owners just want bass so they get large enclosures and tune high. So in any case whether its a L7 or a Focal sub tuned high and a large ensloures it isnt gonna sound all they great but will yield alot of bass.

its all in the skill of the box builder/installer, you need the correct amount of air space and porting.even though kicker has specs they reccomend for thier subs i would never follow them.my box is the shit built by a true pro who basically works with only kicker products.all i can say is this little 10 will stomp systems with 2 or 3 15's even cars with L7 12's if i want to,or sound more realistic and crisp and thats how i like it.
ive had alot of systems in my 30 years on this planet and im sticking to this, this little square freak of a sub is freakin awesome

true....i agree about the install/box builder statement but every sub has its limits its as plain as black and white and their is no way 1 10" sub will kill 3 15's. Just the cone area alone cant even meet as well as air being move. Im a fan of both round and square sub as long as they sound good and both have been proven they can it just depends on the box/install

i have no reason to lie,i bought this off a guy at work it was in his vette,it was such a good price i had to pick it up.i was never really a fan of square subs and i never thought a 10 would hit hard.
this 1 10 alone drowns out my 2 kicker cvr 12inch dvc 2ohm subs.its all in the airspace and dimensons, the box was built by a guy at sound sensations i think he moved to airzona but all he did was build these boxes AKA 15 killers you get the accuracy of a 10 and the boom of 15's its the best of both worlds hahaha

ive heard a 10" 9500 running off a RF power 1000.1 in a snail shell and it was loud as hell but not louder then 3 15's. So i really cant see a regular L5 being any louder thats just my opinion, not trying to be a/an asshole or anything.

If I still had my XXX's I would definately put my 2 15's up against a single 10. They were pretty accurate, but a little boomy. They did make a set of kick drums sound great.

If you are happy with it, unless you compete, who cares what anyone else thinks.

I didnt see where you were located, but if you want to get it metered when its all installed let me know.

oh hell no,XXX's ha thats a competion sub no .i have a single L5 10 and i know people who have sunk more money than me and bought more and bigger and dont have 1/2 the boom and clarity.all i can say is when people hear this little sub they think ive got 15's or 12's something high end i pop the trunk and its like a slap in the face a little 10 hitting like that, then to see the confused look and them trying to figure out why they paid so much more for bigger when they could have gotten much more for less and smaller..oh well and yeah im in lawrenceville.

the XXX's werent competition subs, just your run of the mill daily beater. I do know of a few people that were doing SQ comps with them though.

like I said, if you are happy with them, thats all that matters.

oh and I did a solid 147.3 at 38hz with 2500 watts. Nothing special, but loud enough to turn some heads.
