amp keeps blowing fuses
as it says in the title, i have a 1000watt mono class D MTX thunder series.have it for a lil over a year and its been fine..iv replaced the fuses a few times..i was just out driving and it cut out..blew all 3 20A fuses..went to walmart and bout sum more..bout 3secs of bump blew all 3 again..have any idea? mayb step up to 25 or 30A?fuses.
Hmmm dunno. Maybe check your power wire for a cut or if its touching metal??? That would blow the fuse that is in the powere wire though so IDK. Just a thought
If you dont have an inline fuse on your power wire, get one. like a 60 amp as close to your battery as possible.
and make sure your power and ground are the same gauge wire. if your gorund is smaller, it'll let too much power in and bye bye fuses.
and no, dont step up the amperage in the amp, keep what it calls for, unless you want your amp to blow sooner.

gauge of your ground wire doesnt have anything to do with anything as long as the thing is grounded. bigger the wire, the betterdidnt know about this....so what if your ground is bigger than your power
Have you changed anything recently (I.e headunit)? Don't amp up the fuses if they are the same as you always use, that is a BAAAD idea. They are blowing for a reason either from something grounding out, or your amp going bad. Amping them up could start a fire. Hope this helps.

thanks guys, i havnt had a chance to run up and get another pack of fuses..but its an 2G Rockford 100A fat line so the power line is fine..the ground is nowhere near the power ine compete oposite sides of the car.
and no i still have the same set up for like a hear/ half year just cut out whn driving earlyier..my screen burned out a few months ago but thats the only trouble...it use to cut out but thats because it came undone under the hood fuse block.
yes everything is 2G wire..i do have a memphis 20volt 1 flared cap tho? mayb its letting to much juice into the amp? but iv been pushing that for a few months no problem..use to have a cheap of name frys 1.5flared digital one.no problems.
i'm sorry, your amp just doesnt like you anymore....

gain is probably up too high
dont get any other fuse for the amp then the 20A fuses it came with. they're there for a reason. your gain is too high. that or there is too much resistance b/t the amps and the subs
yep thats what did it.i was playing with the gain and bass boost and as soon i turned up the gain it cut out..Thanks guys

NS is the only one thats posted in here that has posted some real advise. My bet is he's right, or the amp is going out.
Hmm, I kind of have the same problem. Don't know what happened, like everytime I try to put a fuse in...right when I do it...the thing blows. Is it cause the power wire is fucked? Ground is still grounded from what I see...but they did have a little problem before..the remote wire fried one time and I put a new one in and now it just blows fuses all day...what can be the problem?
check your power and ground wires, are they backwards on the amp? Are strands from the power and ground touching? Inspect your power wire very well, it only takes a very small cut to short it out.
