Need Audio Help please

I am getting a rear seat delete kit which is MDF wood with black carpet. So I decided to mount a Sub and amp in it (it will be turned into a box not just mounted straight through).

question 1 is, I am going to be running one Polk Audio SR subwoofer, should I get a 2 channel amp or a mono channel for just one subwoofer?

question 2 is, should I go with the 10" or 12"? I'm not looking to drown out the people blocks from me. Just a nice sub with a good thump to it. Both of these subs are 700watt RMS and 1400watt Peak.

if it matters I just purchased a double din 7" Clarion head unit. all my speakers and amp are going to be Polk.

also, would 4 gauge Visonik amplifier kit do the trick? Since neither polk or clarion make capacitors or wiring kits, gotta find some1 who makes both. 4 gauge should be good enough correct??

If you mount the amp in the middle and then a 10" on each side that would look nice. The 10s will hit plenty hard for you.

As long as the ground is at least the same size and I would beef up the ground strap off my altenator to match if you can - I fried my ground to the alt twice beafoe I got it figured out.

I'm trying to picture it in my head, if the whole back seat was out then I think you should have plenty of room espically if you went with 10s. How big is the amp? I mean measurement wise.

He could push two but the resistance goes up and just makes it less efficent (so the amp works harder).

If both of the speakers have an impedance of 4 ohms, the total impedance will be 8 ohms. In a series connection, you simply add the individual impedances. If there were three 4 ohm speakers in series, the total impedance will be 12 ohms.

I was using resistance but impedance is the correct term.

In series; simply put is just daisy chaining the speakers one to another. He can get away with runing a mono amp and put more that one speaker on it.

I get what ur saying. since I will be using only one amp trying to push 2 subs it would be stressing trying to work harder.

kinda like an alt. when u have all your lights on, stereo, neons, whatever else going on in the car, it has to work harder.

im not trying to get 150db or be in a sound comp. just want a clean setup with good bass. and that should do the trick. So i guess 2 mono amps with 2 10" SR's should pull a premium....lol had to do say it. But all jokes aside

if you ont plan on doing anymore then the 4 guage should be fine, but if ever plan on adding more you can just go ahead and put 0 guage.

not sure what your backseat looks like but you could mount the amp the the back deck. if you put the amp b/w the subs that is going to be a big box and you may have touble getting it in the trunk, you might have to build it in the trunk. yeah you could put the amp vertical but then the wording on the amp might look odd.

not familiar with many cars engine bays but i know my alt doesnt have a ground strap. all you need to do is match your ground wire and power wire. so if you use 4 guage from battery to amp, the amp should have 4 guage ground as well the battery.u dont have to replace the one you have just add a 4 guage wire from the battery to a part of the frame.

if you plan on doing all this to the backseat whats going on in the trunk??

First, I have to ask if the subs are single voice coil, or double voice coil. Also, what brand of amps are you planning on running? If Polk, then I would subbst a 500.1 for each sub (regardless of SVC or DVC)... The SR woofers need a bit more power than the Momo woofers. I have both in different vehciles now.

A single 10" sub would be pleantly in the rear seat area.

I'm thinking of all different setups b/c price plays a HUGE role in all of this.

I;m going to be running a dual coil Polk SR sub, with probably the 500.1 amp. If I end up doing 2 10" Polks I will have 2 500.1 Polks. But, with more items comes more labor and customizing...so we'll see.

Why are dead-set on Polk for your amp I would spend the extra money for a bigger amp. The RMS on that sub is 700 watts so a 500.1 (since it's ony 350 watts RMS). I would try a JL Audio 1000.1. It's a lot of money but when it comes to car audio you def get what you pay for. As for the power kit tsunami makes a 4 guage kit that includes a 1 farad cap.

Im thinking of my setup.....Autotek ss75.2 pushing two Diamond Audio D1 dual voice coil subs, with a 8 guage Rockford Fosgate amp kit. The amp is a two channel and I have no complaints with it. Hits fairly well, and it's clean sounding. I would have to go with what Redgts97 said.

I should let you guys hear my setup. Clean as shit and spent a total of about 200 bucks. SOMETIMES you get what you pay for. This is not always the case

i HATE mix matching. You might get a better sound but it just looks bad.

if POLK made everything (headunit, speakers, wires, etc...) i'd get everything. I was going to go with all Kicker stuff but I'm not out for SLAMMIN drown out the other guy thats 200 yards away noise. nah mean?

Since im going with a custom setup, wouldnt that look shitty to have 2 POLK subs, polk speakers and BOOM an JL amp... look a little funny in there.

they have a little, but theres still ALOT of comparable or better on the market for cheaper.

Dont get this wrong, JL makes a great product, its just not worth what they want for them.

hey man you should be straight with the amp kit just make shure your ground is hook up on a ground. but yea if your runnin to and you dont want alot of bass you can run a 2 channel as well as a mono. but if your lookin for lots of bass and amazing sound go with the 2 channel. just better look. but i would go with the 12's for good clean bass that isnt so hard. and i would go with the 10's for the same reason but with tens you can get a deeper bass not such a loud bass but more of a lower bass. pm if you have any?????????????'s

That all depends on the voice coil of the sub and what resistance the amp is at.

For instance, (this is a mistake i made) I have a dual voice coil 4 ohm sub, and a 400x2 amp at 2 ohms. So I can only wire it at 8 ohms unless I get another sub.
