    Default Stereo folks(satellite radio specific)...

If an antennae says XM on it, can I still use it for Sirius? I found a Sirius receiver but I don't have the antennae for it. The XM antennae plugs into, but does that necessarily mean it will work? Thanks. Later, QD.

Shouldn't work. They pick up different frequencies plus u won't get ground rebroadcasts in large cities. Sometime you will get lucky but in general no.

Dammit. I called 7 stereo shops this morning and they all told me it would work. Then one shop told me it wouldn't. Then one told me that it would work, but the sound might be messed up. Later, QD.

Pretty soon it will not matter. Both Sirius and XM are going to become one broadcast together. Pretty cool if you ask me. We will get the best of both worlds, when it is all said and done.

    As QD says...

    Later !

Mine wouldn't, Matt. I hooked them up and tuned it to the preview channel and got nothing but static. Dammit. I ended up buying a whole new Sirius set up. Have them for $30 at Wal Mart. Lolol. Later, QD.

Lolol. It's true, it's true. I've never had a "plug-n-play" set up and so far, I'm unimpressed. Reception has been shitty so far. Hope it gets better once I get it in the truck. My trainer had the "plug-n-play" in his truck and it was just finer. Later, QD.

No not permanent but it does go in behind the radio,it uses the Aux out of the
    unit,an not the wireless mod.

    Damm 20's

You might need antenna adapters, not much money, but you would need to
pull the radio out to look?

The antennas are different. They may work if you swap them but drop-outs may be significantly higher. Sirius is heavily based on satellite reception while XM is heavily based on terrestrial reception. The antennas are tuned to receive their preferred mode of transmission.

Also, when the FCC provided licensing for both companies, their bandwidth was not separated with a buffer frequency. Earlier antennas and tuners both have filters that reject the opposite signal to reduce or prevent cross talk.

So in short, you can't hurt the tuner if you try it. It may work, it may not. In order to get the best possible signal, use the right antenna.
