    Home Depot says Nardelli resigns as its chairman and CEO

    Bob Nardelli has resigned as chairman and chief executive of Atlanta-based Home Depot Inc, the company announced Wednesday.

    The decision was by mutual agreement, the the world's largest home improvement store chain said.

    Nardelli has been under fire by investors for his hefty pay and the poor performance of the company's stock price in his six-year tenure. He became CEO in December 2000.

    Home Depot said Nardelli will be replaced by Frank Blake, the company's current vice chairman.
