buyer beware HONDA GUYS "AKA" SOUTHERN HONDA
OK.
Here goes. Back in March I found out I was going to be a dad again. So I decided the crx will not work with two baby seats. So I start to look for a car. I come across an ad in the atlanta advertiser.
Used Honda's with full warranty, asce mechanics etc.
So I call this company. This was end of april when I made this call. I spoke to the salesman and also went by to look at the cars. I explained that I needed a 4 dr car, told them what I was looking for. Basically the company deals with insurance companies and gets used hondas. They go through them and offer full warranty on everything as it was explained to me. We will give you a 3 month warranty.
So the wife and I talk it over and give the HONDA GUYS (as they are know at this time) a call. I talk with the salesman and tell him what I'm looking for.
I give him this criteria. 88-91 civic 4dr, manual tranny, under 250k miles and any color but red. I explained to him what the purpose of the car was to be for me to drive my kids back and forth to day car and also my wife to drive it.
So I get a call on May 9th hey we found your car. I said ok. He explained for me to by it he needed to be paid in full or a downpayment. So I left my job in cumming drove over to marietta and paid him for the car. I looked at pictures of the car. It was a white civic 4dr, 206k on the clock. Had a little hit it the front but not much else. I gave him the agreed price of $2000. At this point I had a receipt and a delivery date of 15 days.
So I called him two days later, hey only thing I did not see was it a stick. he said you wanted a stick. He said I'm not sure we will have to see when it gets here. So a few days went by no call. I call again oh we have not paid for it yet. So they finally call me back by the way it is an auto. I said you messed up I wanted a stick.
so back to the get go again. So here we go looking for another car, we find one. So by this time May has totally gone and we are into june. So we get this car and I look at it at their shop. By this time we have the following. They have moved to Acworth and changed names, they are now SOUTHERN HONDA. So tell them yes I'm really understanding but I either a. need my money back or b. need the car by july 1st.
So I talked with the salesman and owner. He said yes we can get the car done by then. So june 30th comes by I call them yep we are on schedule. Oh by the way we are moving the shop due to they are rezoneing the area and we have to move. So I call them July 1st. According to them they have run into a snag, car distributor does not work. Cant get car over to old shop to work on it. Car will be ready tomorrow. So I decide to drive out there. I see the car still in the same condition i had seen it in two weeks earlier. I blow up demanding money back. Owner says sorry You have two choices sue me or wait for car. He said let me put it this way I'll finish the car no matter what. I cool down by this time. He says as a token of good faith here is my home phone number. call me any time during this weekend and I'll make sure my wife will update you on the progress. So I feel better. So all weekend long they call me, we are gettign brakes on it, wheel bearign seezed etc, it is in the paint shop etc. So on Monday the 4th of july I get a phone call by the way the car is done and we are going to bring it to you.
So car arrives at 7 pm on the 4th of july. I talk with the guys wife and she says by the way we are giving you a 6 month warranty since all the aggrovation you have been through and you need to bring it back since the painter messed up and painted it before it was ready to paint. So I asked the question if I fix the other issues with the body is that ok. yep. So they leave. I get it the car and start it up. I go down my drive way almost hit the garage no brakes or handbrake. I also look on the driveway and there is a puddle.
I call them and let them know the next day by the way car has a busted radiator and also brakes dont work. So they said call when you get the body work done and bring it to us. We will fix everythign that is wrong.
So I fix the body work and I decided to bleed the brakes so I could drive it for a while. I also look at the radiator to see what is going on. Well there is jb weld on the radiator to fix it.
So I decided to put a master cylinder on it and rebleed the brakes, still no pedal. I look on the floor at the rear wheel there is fluid coming out of it. So I decide to get new rear wheel cylinders for it. Still bleed the brakes and no pedal.
After all this I call the sales guy he said ahve the car delivered to us and we will fix it all and repaint it.
So we agree on a weekend to drop it off and it will be 15 days after that. So I have it towed at my expense to the shop Sept 5th. So the sales guy said we have it and it will be 15 days. I get a call from the mechanic out there. the car has no brakes what did you do. Well i told him since you dropped it off. He says yes I was the one driving it to the your house. he says the brake pedal felt spongy when I dropped it off. I explained to him what i had changed he said oh by the way you need brake shoes all the way around. I said they were changing them out on july 1st weekend. I said I've driven the car less that a mile.
The mechanic says you need brakes all the way around the whole set up is shot. The sales guy calls me back. he said according to the owner since I touched the brakes they are not under warranty. It will be a minimum of $450. So I tell him no dont work on the brakes just fix the radiator and paint it.
After getting all pissed off I relax and talk with the wife she freaks out.
I called last thursday and the sales guy says it will be ready saturday radiator fixed and painted.
He calls me later that night saying by the way I'm quitting there due to the hastle. He explains that there is atleast 8-9 law suits etc. he said and they are saying ##$%$% the guy with that civic. We dont care about his faimily. I call out there on friday to figure out when car will be done. I get another excuse. I finally had it. I tell them dont worry about I'll have a wrecker pick it up.
So now I'm out $2000, cost of master cylinder, wheel cylinders and two tow bills. So no the car is sitting a friends shop not painted no brakes and no radiator.
I figured I did not want any of you guys to go through this.
